It took exactly 5 posts in this thread for it to change from the State brought in the FBI to FK got them.

Now all we need is some type of word salad combined with some smoke and mirrors to explain this discrepency.
I am total confused. Help.

Wow, that's fleeing and eluding, that's a official non response, freedom of information? ?they should call it,(you are free to ask for info act, but....?
This is still a on going investigation, They will not tell you anything YET. Hang in there, I will tell it all if I can 8-)

Got any photos that are clearer? Would like to see a photo of the bottom and shoulder of the flask if possible.

This is all I have, I remember it did have a point tail under it and it was blown, the glass was thick in spots and thin in spots. DCNR has had it for over 10yrs now. I did collect bottles at one time and still have some major ones, When I found this I placed it at 1858 to civil war period. But I am no expert on bottles .

Hi What happened to these self proclaimed treasure hunters Otto Rahn Harold Bell Lasseter Ellis Anderson ????? TP

In all fairness, the FBI did state that it's possible the case is too new and the data hasn't made it to the FOIF files for release, the case could still be on going or I may need to reword my request to match up with key words in their system.....lmao. The eFOIA requests are handled by computer bots so I'm not terribly surprised.

If anyone wants to do their own request, I'd suggest waiting 45 days and present it in writing. If I cared any longer about this debacle, I'd do it myself. I've seen and heard enough of this bull. There are much more interesting threads to following on this site.

When some of you are convinced and/or suggest that the Government is doing flybys with detection equipment over Dent's Run, it becomes too childish of a thread to have my "name" associated with it.

The Russian fleet under the Czar showed up in force in NY in 1863, coincidence, I think not. Was the Gold sent to Russia as payment for supporting the Yankees?

I am curious, NOT being argumentative here... I did a great deal of research (even digging into the National Archives) and came up with nothing that supported the Feds looking into Dents Run area 'dating back to Ulysses S. Grant.' Grant fishing in the area is interesting - kind of an out of the place spot to fish. Granted, no pun intended, the Pinkerton records (if any) on Dents Run may have been lost in the Chicago fire, but what actual primary evidence is there for the Feds 'looking into' Dents since the 1860's. I discovered intriguing coincidences in a piecemeal story (primary evidence), but never anything concrete about Feds or Pinkerton in Dents Run - for example, reports, etc. Could you or someone else cite the evidence? I'd like to see what I missed - more so how I missed it. Thanks.

Its like I been saying, There is more to this story and the investigation is on going , and Yes its possible the FBI had a chopper looking for something in the area. Would some people like this story to go away quiet, YES . But that will not happen and we will tell it all soon. May 15th is 20 days away now and counting.
Thank You

Jeff of PA (Moderator) is really good at researching the Chronicling of America archives, anyone ever seen anything from him over the years regarding Dent's Run?

I conducted a quick search of the Chronicling of America archives (Pennsylvania only) using these search terms: Dents Run Gold, Silver, Treasure, Civil War (4 separate searches). Conducted same 4 searches using Elks County. Only one reference to gold mentioned in the area. Papers stop in 1963. So, no one was talking about it prior to 1963.

The news clip below was published in 1869.

OK Good work, I did post we found Blue Green Clay in the cave, and Yes there is iron, gold , silver in it. and its a easy process to remove the gold from the clay and yes the Indians could of done it. Dry out the clay, crush it up and add borax , heat it and the gold and silver will come to surface in little bubbles, then just pan it to separate it. Find Blue Gray Clay and have it tested for amount of gold before you go crazy. I did say this could be a mine.

Grant was not only fishing at Dents on multiple occassions but actually meeting with Simon Cameron, former Secretary of War, at Dents Run. Interesting part of Feds history of interest in this area. Cameron administered numerous Pinkerton contracts for the government around these times. Try searching "Two Mouth Run", early name for Dents Run.

Is there enough gold embedded in the clay to be picked up by GPR's or whatever high tech equipment you guys use?

The nearest borax to that cave is in southern New Mexico. No North American natives every smelted ore. Iron, gold and silver together spells sulfides - which require smelting.

Not a gold, silver or copper mine. Just a distraction.

No gold bars.

I am willing to wait.
