Basic signs and symbols you have found

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Wish the background wasn't blurry, but I see what could be an upside down broken cross in the background pointing to the lower right of the picture. Might be where the trap/treasure is.

Of course it could just be the blur too. Nice camera though, looks a little like Nikon glass :)

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Here is another good example of an eye catcher. No white rocks anywhere along this ridge except for this one. Later on in the day we found a small hill that was covered in white rocks. Now we know where it came from.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Nice post Rob,

I wish the photo was a little clearer but it shows exactly what you intend .
There is something on that ledge you are supposed to look at.
It will be very near that white stone, and will be quite obvious.
You won't have to climb to see it.

If you look to the right just a few yards, there is another white slab.
The marker you seek could be between these two.
very nice.

Randy,

Yes , Doug uses a Nikon.
I can't tell you what the model or style is, I do know that if I were to make the pictures full size they would blow up as big as my house and not be grainy.
He take an awesome photo though.
It is really cool to have someone as a partner who knows what he is looking at.

He will have to elaborate on the camera.
All I can tell you about it is it has me in awe of the picture quality he achieves.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

There is something between the two white rocks? Isn't that a face up above on the cliff?

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

BigE,

Welcome to T-Net, glad you chose this thread to post in first.
Hope you stick around and show us what you are doing,
and get to know some of the finest people in the world.

The picture is just out of focus enough to distort that feature.
There are protrusions but I won't commit any farther than that.

Those type of eye catchers usually point to something a bit closer like a triangle pointer , and a major one at that. looking at the way the white stones were placed it was meant to be seen from two directions.
So there may be something above each white stone, that means the same each way.
Beyond this It would be foolish to say because it isn't my trail and I haven't seen the marker.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Victorio sent me a photo of a turtle to post for him, with some cool info that is directional on it's tail end.
Once again just out of focus enough to see that it is spanish but no way to accurately read the information.
You're up Victorio,
Here is your turtle.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Here is another marker we found. Not sure of the meaning yet, but the face on the right does point to another marker.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Must be time for a nap...going blind here...I only see a face on the left. :-\

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Cyndi,

you aren't going blind, You aren't supposed to see that face from this side.
from this side the direction of travel is to the left.
From the other side the direction of travel would take you the other way and the face you see would be replaced by the one you can't see here this face would in affect disappear.
They are one way faces, they show direction one way.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Here is another face, it can be seen from both sides as three trails converge into one.
It shows that travel on this trail was in both directions.

Since it can be seenfron both ways it is a two way face.
we have found several two way faces but only a couple as old as this one

Yes I have posted this one before,
I like this guy.

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Been in bed out here on the rig sick for the last 3 days OD. Guess that small hike i got in kicked my rump to tell me i was not 100 percent as of yet. Be home in the am. Takin some time to answer the questions i missed while i slumbered.

Yes Randy...Thats a Nikon D1x i am learning to use. Thanx to my old friend and mentor MB i was able to afford the D1x. And OD has lucked out once again as when i up grade the partner gets the hamie downs and he is learning to use my old kodak P850...and gps...etc. Lol.

Since i am busy cleanin tools i'll throw this edited version of said pic up with some circles and arrows. I'll let everyone chew on it until i get back to the rig from my whoping 24-36hrs off.

There is good reason the photo is blurry in the middle...and there are several that are not that will stay in my archives for good reasons as this is a new site i found in az by accident and have yet to have the time to work....and since its getting hot down there it will have to wait until next winter as OD and i have a lot to do around here this summer!

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

OD...go back to post number 10...and that picture i took.
Was doing a lil homework due to what has presented itself
on so far all of our sites here. Not sure thats an eye anymore.
The Mayans however did use that symbol and it wasn't meant
to be an eye but rather a form of their numerical system as
the Zero.....we have another canyon to look at soon...i have some
rather neat stuff to share with you...so you might want to brush
up on your Mayan and Aztec stuff.

Best of luck with it stomper!!

Re: Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found

Well this possible sign is no longer in place. It was taken off the platform when the interstate went through. I'm going down to take a look at it today. What do you think? Sign or not? New Mexico.
