šŸ„‡ BANNER My first George Washington Inaugural Button!

My first George Washington Inaugural Button!
Joe and I went out for a little while to a cellar hole we've been at before, we were up to 9 assorted coppers including a nice Fugio. The wind was blasting at 40 mph, kept away from the big trees but still it was freaky up on the hillside. Found two more coppers today, and going slow along the edges in-between nails I found what I think is my first GW button:

šŸ„‡ BANNER INSANE pocket spill.

INSANE pocket spill.
Hello everyone, I am currently on my trip and wanted to share with you all a very fun and great find I made. Some of you are aware of my rev war camp site I found a few years back. Throughout the area we found a lot of 19th century coins. Well, anyway, searching a new area I got a real nice silver tone and popped out a 1875 seated Liberty dime. I scanned again, and yet another silver signal! I called my friends over and but the time they arrived I got the other silver out, another seated 1875 seated dime. We scanned another tone, and another, and another. I ended up pulling 2 Indian heads...

šŸ„‡ BANNER Dug a change purse full of silver!!!

Dug a change purse full of silver!!!
This is a walking away from the car story for a change. I was walking through the woods toward an area with stone farmer walls that I intended to search. I was casually swinging as I walked the trail when I got a high tone about six inches from the trail edge. I rescanned and got mixed signals and VDIs. I dug the hole and found a leather change purse about five inches down. I could not resist opening it, and immediately saw the half dollar as shown in the first picture. Coins started spilling out the corroded back of the purse, so I put it in my bag right away and picked up the fallen...

šŸ„‡ BANNER Rev war button?!?

Rev war button?!?
I believe I just found an amazingly beautiful revolutionary war button from the 64th regiment!! So excited about this one! I packed it back in dirt so it wouldnā€™t dry out. What the best way to clean and preserve this button please? 63545743449__B336AF99-A7A8-4D73-B870-CB066217DD05.jpg
Thanks for looking!

UPDATE: I got a private message from Don Troiani showing interest in my button! Instant geeking out. Don informed me that my button which is as I now know, a British 64th Regiment of foot, is a previously un known example!! I will be sending him pictures for his next article and couldnā€™t be more...

šŸ„‡ BANNER Gold Minerā€™s Starter Kit

Gold Minerā€™s Starter Kit
I live in and detect mostly in El Dorado County, California in search of early Gold Rush camps and settlements. The other day I was detecting a new area down on a creek and it was clear that no other detectorists had ever been there before me, great success!! Period 1850s targets began coming out of the ground and then I got a MONSTROUS overload signal on my CTX...I figured it was a cast iron stove door or something similar. I dug down and about 8ā€ down I began unearthing a sluice rake, and next to it was an upside-down gold pan! Those who detect in the mother lode know how hard it is to...

šŸ„‡ BANNER Treasure coins...cut spanish silver, and 1659 marevedi in the same hole !!

Treasure coins...cut spanish silver, and 1659 marevedi in the same hole !!
Oh brother....got down to a well known treasure beach. I knew they were in the middle of a beach renourishment that will seal this spot under rock, brick, and concrete. There was a slim chance that between back hoes and excavators that I might be able to sneak in and get a coin or 2 before this spot is done for good !! Well it was worth it and I got a 1659 marevedi and a cut spanish silver in the same hole...within 4 inches of each other !! What a thrill !! 20210215_193300.jpg

šŸ„‡ BANNER Holy cow artifact!

Holy cow artifact!
Been in a bit of a slump with the detector lately, nothing but clad, caps and tabs. Decided to change things up a bit and go look for artifacts. Called a permission a few hours away to see if the ground was clear, and he said it was so off I went. Was having an okay day and finding a few decent points when I spotted this tip sticking up from the crust. Tried to give it a little wiggle but it was in there solid. I was hoping for a whole point maybe an inch and a half long and not broken. I just about soiled myself when I pulled up the biggest Elko knife I've ever...
