Top Treasure Finds

Okay guys, I don't even have words anymore... I found something crazy yesterday, I don't know yet for sure how old this gold ring is but my best estimate is 17th or 18th century. Here are the pics:

This is a walking away from the car story for a change. I was walking through the woods toward an area with stone farmer walls that I intended to search. I was casually swinging as I walked the trail when I got a high tone about six inches from the trail edge. I rescanned and got mixed signals and VDIs. I dug the hole and found a leather change purse about five inches down. I could not resist opening it, and immediately saw the half dollar as shown in the first picture. Coins started spilling out the corroded back of the purse, so I put it in my bag right away and picked up the fallen...

I believe I just found an amazingly beautiful revolutionary war button from the 64th regiment!! So excited about this one! I packed it back in dirt so it wouldn’t dry out. What the best way to clean and preserve this button please?

UPDATE: I got a private message from Don Troiani showing interest in my button! Instant geeking out. Don informed me that my button which is as I now know, a British 64th Regiment of foot, is a previously un known example!! I will be sending him pictures for his next article and couldn’t be more...

I live in and detect mostly in El Dorado County, California in search of early Gold Rush camps and settlements. The other day I was detecting a new area down on a creek and it was clear that no other detectorists had ever been there before me, great success!! Oh brother....got down to a well known treasure beach. I knew they were in the middle of a beach renourishment that will seal this spot under rock, brick, and concrete. There was a slim chance that between back hoes and excavators that I might be able to sneak in and get a coin or 2 before this spot is done for good !! Well it was worth it and I got a 1659 marevedi and a cut spanish silver in the same hole...within 4 inches of each other !! What a thrill !!

Been in a bit of a slump with the detector lately, nothing but clad, caps and tabs. Decided to change things up a bit and go look for artifacts. Got into the woods here in White Plains, looking for an old school house from the 1905 - 1920 era, that was supposed to have been built on top of an older school from the 1800s. I had been out for about an hour before it started raining a bit of ice/sleet, when I got a deep bouncing 34, 36, 37, in Artifact mode. Honestly I almost didn't dig it because I guessed it was big, deep, iron, but I was getting ready to call it a day and hadn't filmed a dig yet. Glad I Dug It! So ive been detecting a forgotten farm field. Theres very little trash and 80% of everything that comes out is old. Toe taps, shoe buckle parts, a three ringer, KG2s, a half cent, 1880 canadian dime, 1859 canadian largie are examples of what ive found in this field so far. On sunday i got out there again with a couple friends. I also broke my phone sunday so thats why the late post. My first find was a piece of a toe tap, then a watch winding key.
