Will there be a new Tesoro for 2015?

I'll play....

Typical Tesoro user:

"Tesoro does not need to come out with anything new because they work just fine"
"Tesoros are better than machines 2X their price"
"Anything not a Tesoro is a toy"
"A good MDer does not need a display"

Rinse and repeat...always the same rubbish.

Plenty of old crap still works fine...does not mean consumers should have to settle for it. If new shiny toys are out there...people will jump ship. Marketing 101. Just because a Tesoro can match depth does not make them "better" than newer and pricier machines. Those $1200 machines that are 2X the Tejon and Vaquero do everything they can do....plus so much more.

Fact of the matter is...this new update from Vince is anything but. Still no date...not a month...not a year. Would rather talk .005 coil snips. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz......

Tesoro dropped the ball on the Cazador and now they are paying the price. Multiple people have said they were once waiting for the Cazador but have decided to go buy something else instead. Not only does that sting from a financial standpoint...but a reputation standpoint as well.

Funny how Whites, Garrett, and Fisher hasn't come out with anything "new" since the 1990s, but by repackaging old technology, or combining and blending different machines to make them "look" sexy - while charging consumers more, nobody really seems to care. I guess in my book, Tesoro is just more honest than their competition.

Kind of like the new black faceplate from Tesoro? Rad stuff...

Whites - TreasureMaster and TreasurePro....getting good feedback after the initial errors. Packed with features.
Garrett - AT Pro and AT Gold....ATX....all 3 speak for themselves.
Fisher - New F series.....F19 a Gold Bug on crack (so not just looks)...F44 weatherproof (again not just looks) and tons of great features (including NEW algorithms for the discrimination processor).
Bounty Hunter - New Pro series....Lone Star Pro....Quick Draw Pro.....Land Ranger Pro (probably take that over any Tesoro honestly)

Hell...it is not new but still newer than most Tesoros....the Teknetics T2 is now $499...absolutely a better deal (and detector) than a Tejon or a Vaq.

To hear a Tesoro guy tell it.....all VLF detectors in the last 10 years are just re-hashed crap...at to a degree I get that....but it is still rubbish. With that logic....why is the Cazador even being talked about?

The other companies are squeezing every last inch and drop out of displays and processors and FEATURES that make detecting life easier.

Just my opinion....

I was about to say exactly what you said (although you left out the newest Minelabs Go-Find & Teknetics EuroTek models)! Thanks, you saved me a lot of time, lol. Oh, & Terry you seem to be similar to Obama, in that you expect everybody to believe what you say because it is YOU saying it, therefore it must be true! Good luck with that rhetoric.

N9 one is saying that the machines you listed are bad machines just they are not the right ones for all situations. I own 3 mains with the bells and whistles. All of them I run wide open only discriminating out a square nail, no notch save the Deus which I notch out 98 and 99 run zero disc and full tones for its unmasking ability. The F75 I run wide open, 1 tone and only one coil the nel snake. The 3 tesoros I run all have 5.75 concentric on them. None of the detectors you mention will unmask better in iron laden sites better than a tesoro save the f 19 or t2 and they will only keep up with them. You may think want you do but I have hunted many old trashy homesteads with my tesoros first and then go back over them with my expensive machines but find very little left behind. Heck when I set up the Deus I leave the remote in the truck. It's all about the tones nothing more.

OK, let's skip the facts and go right to the personal attacks. You do crack me up Atomic. I believe you, much more than I, are a cult of personality.

I'm not brand loyal even though I happen to own mostly Fishers. And I love my Tejon.

However, I sent my F75 to Fisher a couple of weeks ago to be upgraded. In the time period that it has been gone, I've taken the Tejon out once and the F44 out 6 or 7 times. This tells me that when it actually comes down to it, I prefer the VDI on a $350 machine over the tone only $600 machine. For me, it comes down to a VDI showing me that the numbers jump around or stay stable. On the tone machine, I'm not really able to do that.

I've mainly hunted parks in the described time period, and the VDI has allowed me to skip most of the trash. With the Tejon, I end up digging way more trash. If I had spent most of the past couple of weeks in fields, I probably would have taken the Tejon instead.

I know this doesn't necessarily argue either point very well. But, I wanted to give a real life example of the choices made by a regular ole dirt fisherman that owns both type of machines.

Cult of personality? Ok I will take it! Terry, just saying you SEEM like Obama. Now if I called you an "Obama" that would be an attack! Lol. Being from AZ, I am sure you & I have similar political views. Did not mean to actually personally attack you (or maybe your deceased relatives as you did mine?)

Woo-Hoo! I have been saying this about my F2 versus Vaquero for years now! Same spots back to back & the F2 finds more EVERY damn time. And DEEPER with better ID, lol!

Please keep it civil and Obama references out of comments in threads except in our Politics forum... :icon_thumright:

:laughing7: Giggling like a little girl! Atomic, did you just type, "...I have been saying this about my F2 versus Vaquero for years now! Same spots back to back & the F2 finds more EVERY damn time."? Seriously? A Fisher F2? OMG dude, I think I need to p. :laughing9:

Soon this thread will have to be changed to "Will there be a new Tesoro for 2016?"

they will have another earth shaking technical innovation. they will change the vaquero and tejon from black back to gray and change the coil scruff covers from gray to black. and increase or decrease the lower pole length by .0002 inches. in response to their inquiries of their customer base. some will be so thrilled with that, they will not be able to contain themselves with amazement at such a breakthrough in metal detecting research, design, and development. how could any other company possibly compete with that.

Is there a few unhappy people over in the Whites, Garrett, or Fisher brand forums bashing those brands, or do the moderators shut that down when the brands are paying sponsors? ???

I'm curious, how many of you buy a new car every year? If the manufacturer doesn't build something you like, do you keep what you got, hop on the bicycle, or find something else?

Looks to me like when they bring out something new, people complain. When they don't, people complain.

If they replaced their entire line, do you believe your finds are suddenly going to double in quality/quantity?

I would also seem that many who aren't happy with Tesoro here, have failed to list all the Tesoros theyown in their profile/sig.

PM me with scrap prices on all them crappy/outdated Tesoros :hello: :laughing7:

Terry your comment is uncalled for. No one is breaking the rules on this thread, if or when they do it will be addressed

Nobody is expecting a yearly model. As this thread and others on the internet have indicated...people have no problem just buying something else. Tesoro IS losing business from people who were once in the market but just do not want to wait. Simple as that. When a new model is announced...at the very least a timeline should be given. The lack of communication and sheer dodging of the question brings little faith to the company from a consumer.

When product X is announced....but product Y releases first and is simply an accessory...consumers just might complain.

Nobody is expecting that or assuming that. Only Tesoro users "expect" their machines to perform 2X their price and ability. God forbid a cheaper or similar priced detector beats a Tesoro...might need a straight jacket and meds.

I would also seem that many who aren't happy with Tesoro here, have failed to list all the Tesoros they own in their profile/sig.

Being unhappy with a business practice is different than being unhappy with their product. I was in the market for a Tesoro Cibola until I scored my avatar MD's for $50 (total) unopened at a yard sale. Now that there is a supposedly new Tesoro on the way...why would I (or anybody) waste the money on one? I don't want to spend $360 on a Cibola now when a brand new one may roll out within a month to "god knows when"....and I cannot imagine too many consumers are wanting to gamble that chance either.

PM me with scrap prices on all them crappy/outdated Tesoros.

Simple Ebay search for Tesoro shows plenty of used models for sale.

Just a question T_H, not meant as a slight, just to point out this "problem" does not happen as frequently and heatedly in the Fisher or Whites brand threads.

Hunter, do not post inside a members quote, if you quote a member post below it or above it....

With out reading through entire thread I see no rules being broken, no one has reported a post for breaking our rules, just asking why a company hasn't released a detector isn't considered bashing...

Well, that's it. I'm completely scrapping 22-years of personal experience with Tesoro machines, which I began using after spending 20-years using Garrett, Whites, and Fisher machines, thousands and thousands of hours on the headphones, and who the heck knows how many plugs, and holes dug or picked out!

I mean seriously, TheHunterGT HAS to be right, right? I mean he typed in Bold and everything! Gosh, I just can't believe I have been wrong about Tesoro all these years! :dontknow:

The simple fact is if your waiting to buy a Tesoro because they asked what everyone thought they should name their next Tesoro detector detector then that is up to you. Tesoros are knows and switches. If you don't like knob and switches then you are free to buy whatever else. For the money their performance is hard to beat and several very experienced detectorists will tell you so. I have been using tesoro detectors since the early 90s and don't intend to stop anytime soon. In the sites I hunt they have found me many great finds from old silver and coppers from the early 1800s to 1960s. I go through a vaquero every couple of years cause I can get a new one readily. My eldorado and bandido 2 I treat like babies cause they are hard to find and snatched up immediately. By the way there is an eldorado on ebay right now for someone that wants one of the best detectors tesoro ever made.
