Will there be a new Tesoro for 2015?

I just got off the telephone with Vince Gifford, President of Tesoro Electronics, and a man I consider a friend. We talked about a number of subjects including the “Cazador,” and Tesoro’s new 11” x 8” Widescan search coil.

I told Vince there has been a lot of speculation about when, or if, Tesoro will introduce a new machine into their product line. We talked about how some of the public assumed, after Tesoro decided to name their newest metal detector the “Cazador,” it would be released shortly thereafter. Of course, that was January, 2014.

He understood why some are disappointed that the Cazador has not yet been released, but told me that the reason Nathan asked for public input at the very beginning of this new project was to kick-start the infusion of ideas and suggestions on its design. He stressed that no one at Tesoro ever stated a release was near, and in fact, the machine was still “on the drawing board” when the name was chosen.

Vince also pointed out that the Cazador is not the only project the Company is developing. One example is the newly designed and released 11” x 8” Widescan search coil. He told me about the many hours spent on designing and testing the coil - sometimes making changes as small as .005” in the coil windings, or reshaping the unique coil housing for maximum power distribution, depth, and sensitivity. The coil is now available as a stock coil on the Vaquero, and I can’t wait to test it against the 12” x 8” on my Tejon.

So, to all of you waiting for the Cazador, keep the faith. When the machine does arrive I am sure most of us will be thrilled, and the haters will find new reasons to hate. As for the new 11” x 8” Widescan coil, be sure to watch for my review and comparisons.

Yes, they are probably the easiest on the market to learn, but they take time to master. Many that say they don't like them never actually master their machine.

finally, why did not someone at tesoro take 20-30 minutes, at the most, and put this on their facebook page. then copied and pasted it on this and the other forum. instead of that nathan's drunking sounding rant the last time. thank you, but why could they not do that them freaking selves? no one is knocking the detectors they have out now. i really enjoy mine. finally to get some kind of word, which is nothing really more than we have already heard by the way. it has to be from someone other than a direct representative of the company. just, once again, a pretty pathetic way to interact with their loyal customers that suppose to mean so much to them. anyhow, thanks again for the same old information. you gave it a decent try.

Terry, thanks for the update. I love my tesoros and will defiantly try a new one when it comes out. I was excited when they came out with the 11 x 8 and got it shortly after releasing it. I really like the coil. It has great sensitivity to small gold for a larger coil. Releasing the new coil showed me they were still at it and making strides. As you can see from my profile I own and use several tesoro's and look forward to a new one from them in the future.

Wow .005?? That is ground breaking stuff!

That's it Atomic? Seriously? :laughing7: I'll give you another try before I laugh so hard I wet my pants. 8-)

yeah, where i'm from, an update usually gives new information. we do not even know if it will be waterproof. if they were looking for ideas. look at the at-pro. garrett has probably sold more of just that model than all tesoros models combined in the past 4 years. and it is not nothing great. but, knowing the new 8x11 widescan can be ordered with on a new vaquero. which was already known already by everyone. i guess some believe that the sky has parted and angels are singing. just goes to show, no matter how great you think you are and better than everyone else. you are really not. haha

Nobody who has used and enjoyed the great detectors Tesoro has given us can be happy about it, but even in Arizona, the sun eventually sets.

modern metal detectors are all about digital signal processing, writing complex computer code to slice and dice signals and present them in ever more informative ways to the user.

Unless Tesoro is willing to get an H1b visa pretty quick and bring a Turkish, Bulgarian, Russian or Ukrainian digital signal processing genius with an interest in metal detectors to Prescott AZ (a really nice place by the way) it ain't gonna happen.

i hope I'm wrong...

well said. they have a few who still worship them. tesoro probably does not have the finances to hire someone who can come in and get things rolling. and the ones they did have left the sinking ship. surely with nothing new in 10 years other than a coil. that may be the case, i dont know. nobody does except them and they dont seem to care to say nothing new. just the same old thing over and over. now we have to get the same old news second hand. thats what i cant believe. i have said, they should merge with fisher, whites, or even an overseas company who has the finance's and talented people to get things going in a timely manner. none of us want to see them fail. but, with the way they are doing things. anyone who is realistic can plainly see, thats what will happen. even if they can't see it themselves.

The outlaw came out in 2012 I believe just 3 years ago. I myself would like one with a mid and high tone also. I don't want any tid on it though that's not why I own 6 tesoros. I have them cause I don't have the feeling with them that I'm leaving much on the table in trashy sites cause I set my disc low and dig it all. When I use my tid machines and choose not to dig them solid mid tones I worry.

I believe this is one of those times jLd66, where your speculation is embarrassing at the very least, and downright arrogant at worst. Why are you so confident that you know Tesoro's financial, and employee relations and retention situation? Have you seen their domestic or European sales reports for last quarter? Do you have ANY idea who has been with the company 20-years, or 20-minutes? Do you know what they are building for other companies under contract or license? Slow your roll jLd66, Tesoro is doing just fine and continues to update their current machines while giving their customer base exactly what they are looking for - The lightest, most easy to use and learn machines on the market today that are just as deep and sensitive as machines priced twice as much.

oh, and you do Terry. you know their finance's and sales, i said no one knows except them. what about that supposed new machine you said you were testing? updating their current machine's, how, buy changing the color of them? now that's a real technological update. i said i like like the tesoro i use. i already know their the lightest, easy to learn, and work well from experience. not because someone else tell's me so. a little controversy is good in everything from business, sport's, relationship's, etc. so, until you truly know something, quit blowing smoke up everyone's butt's. or are you another one who claim's you know more than you can say. i had my picture taken with Ronald Reagan back in the 80's when i was in the Navy. that does not mean i knew what the government was doing. i was one you started in with when i first came on this forum with your arrogance and you were even told buy the moderators on here to cut it out. we all have to respect you because you are a gold member and overlord of the tesoro cult? what is that anyhow? how many followers is in it? i am another one on here that tesoro or you cant pee in my ear and tell me it's raining. if my replies and posts upset you, don't read them. that's simple enough. i do not break the rules on here.

When you say tesoro is doing just fine and continues to update and give their customer base exactly what they are looking for. I think you should reread this thread. I see miniscule updating and a total disregard to customer base by ignoring the subject.

I'm not sure what you guys are complaining about. Tesoro has released a new coil and one detector in the last three years that's about on par with the rest of the companies. The performance of the vaquero and tejon are on par with machines twice their price. If tesoro put a tid on the vaquero and made it two tone and charged twice the money would people buy it? Doubt it, performance would still be the same I'm afraid. Tesoro has built machines with tid and tones and discontinued them or they don't sell that many. What I would like to see from them is maybe a vaquero that is waterproof and a 3 x 6 football coil.

the outlaw is not new technology, the stickers on it are. the new coil is a reinvented nel coil. no new technology in it either. the problem with the new machine is not the time it is taken. it is tesoros lack of communication about it. you can't say you value your customers. yet, say nothing. a great small company needs more than having good service and a good product. you need good communication with customers. in which they have none at all. thats what this is about. not their detectors. people are forgiving if you keep them informed. but, the same old news, which comes second hand now if it really did take place at all. is what a failing business does. this guy comes on here claiming he is field testing a new machine. then says he personally spoke with tesoros owner and is told it is still in development. so what is it. is he testing it, or are they still developing it? sound like a bunch of B.S. that is being fed to us by this guy and i'm saying so.

As far as new tech, not sure there has been any of that in many years. Only thing I see on new machines today are a few bells and witless except maybe the deus.

I think if Tesoro doesn't come out with something soon, they will lose their customer base to some of the Eastern European companies like DeepTech and Mikron. Very similar machines in how they function. I prefer to buy American made unless the technology is way out dated. That is why I ride foreign motorcycles and not the Harley and Harley wanna bees. Dave Johnson had a hand in designing a large number of the popular detectors as he worked for the various companies, (If you don't know of him Google his name with metal detector). About the time he left Tesoro, they started losing the ability to innovate. Their new models are old models with a few feature tweaks, a new paint job and a new name. The Outlaw came from the Bandito series I believe. The white paint for the Lobo was supposed to freshen the product. Now some models come out in the NEW black. WOW! can you imagine that? How innovative.
As you can see from the info under my name, I own a number of wiz bang machines, (Most designed by Dave J), but was also interested in getting another beep and dig to compliment the Lobo ST. I think I like the detecting machines better than I do the finding of stuff.
