WHO WANTS TO DIVE FOR TREASURE

Hi Capt_t
Won't know until Monday night at the earliest if we will be diving Tuesday. The weather here is very unpredictable and possibly cold. Let's stay in touch and play it by ear.

Seahunter..

Amazing changes over the years.......imagine what it looked like in the Spanish Galleon days!

I'll frequent this board...and try to set something up as things warm up!

Thx...
Beau

Hi Capt_t
It doesn't look like we will be diving for the next couple days, but it does look promising for the weekend. The winds are supposed to come out of the west this weekend which should make the waves lay down. It needs to be very calm when you are close to shore in shallow water. I hope to see you when it calms down and we can get wet.

I hope you all are ok after the little Storm .. and i hope the Diving Pays off And the Storm Brought lots af Treasure.

Seahunter,

I'll be driving out from San Diego in early March and would like to dive. Will there be any room?

Bob

Hello Bob
We will definitely have room, just not sure what we will have for weather. Last year March seemed ok but that was not normal. We will have a better idea in late February. Let's stay in touch and play it by ear.

Seahunter,

Great! Thanks. I'll need to rent gear including a UMD. Can you recommend a dive shop?

Bob

Here are some pictures from Thursday. Heading out out in the morning with Chagy and Rgecy and his son. We should have lots of pictures after that, Robert is pretty handy with a camera. Hoping to learn how to use mine better by watching him with his. The first picture is Scotty Lee finding a coin and the second one is Jimmy Webster finding one.

Hi Seahunter!

I would really love to dive with you and try and find some of that shiny stuff!

I have about 15 days of vacation left for the rest of the year and won't take 1/2 day without hearing from you.

Could you send me an E-mail @ jf2hrum@tch@rt3rd0tn3t and let me know what you need to know to decide if it would work for you for me to come dive?

BTW: Decipher code for E-mail address is 2=s, @=a, 3=e, 0=o.

Hope to hear from you soon!

can u use someone for a couple weeks, i'm new at this but good dive credentials and really have the bug

Hello CapnJuan and capnduff
Would enjoy meeting you guys and diving with you. Where do you guys live? It is very hard to schedule anything this time of year due to the unpredictable south Florida weather. I am very hesitant to have people come in from out of town for the sole reason of diving because I do not want them to leave dissapointed. Sometimes we only get a couple hours first thing in the morning and if you are not here right then it can change before you can get here. I have had some people think I did not want them to come with me, when in fact I knew I had to go right then and could not wait for them. If you will already be here and we end up going you are welcome to come with us. Last week Rgecy and Chagy were in town on other business and we got lucky and were able to dive although it was right on the verge of being to rough to dive. We got beat up a little but were still able to find some coins. In a couple months we can start scheduling dives with a better chance of being able to actually dive. Right now the "Seahunter" is out of the water for a bottom job to prepare for the season. Should be back in the water by the end of next week. Looking forward to meeting you guys and anyone else who is interested in diving.

Lars,

Thanks for the link, explains a lot about the cutter-dredge that was used some 2000 feet offshore and how it cut through the Archangel’s scatter trail. Question I have, is the course that they ran for the dredging public record? If it was, it should give most of the dive teams in the area a clue as to where a good portion of the coins ect.. are located, would it not.

SeaHunter,

Question for you, how deep is it roughly 3/4 of a mile or 2000 feet off shore, is it still a workable depth or is it now at a point of requiring a decompression stop. Just asking as one would think, if the cutter course was available and it wasn't too deep it might not be a bad place to look.

Don

Hello Don
The area you are talking about has depths between 5 and 30 feet. A large portion of the area has a sandbar with dephs of 5 to 10 feet.
