Like Jerseygirl71, mine is old Jersey Girl, because I am old, born in 1941, and a Jersey Girl born and raised. I started as a child looking for Indian relics with my parents and still hunt to this day. Only the Local indian tribes artifacts. Everything we have was found by my Dad, Mom and us three girls. Nothing like the thrill of finding a beautiful spear point that has been in the ground for hundreds of years. I guess the detecting is the same too. Something found that has not been seen in years. I am new, just a few months, but love it.

I totally agree with you. I collect them also and enjoy finding them myself.

You Go Girl!!
I've not found indian artifacts, but want to.
Sure it's a different thrill.

It really is. You can't help but wonder who made it and what their lives were like. And that they lived and hunted on the very ground you are standing on. Fields now, but forest then. Oh, I could go on and on. Anyway, you are probably the first person to hold it in your hand since it was used and lost by him.

My name came from where I live (have lived). For six years I was a national park ranger doing fire and EMS work in Yellowstone National Park(YNP). Just a few years ago I moved back to Va so my wife could finish school. Now I live in the 804 area code.
Now my avatar is the most ridiculous metal detector I could find on the Internet. A few people have even asked me if that's what I hunt with lol.

Profile name is my first name. However, being fatally shy growing up, it was a peculiar curse for me. Have been mistakenly called Jarren, Jared, Joran, Jerrel, Jarlo, Jaro, Jerry, John, George, Jim, Jael...Joe..Jake...Jerrin..Jannol(once by a Finnish fellow). No one, even today get's it right the first time when I tell them...can not tell you how many times I have had to correct misspelled mailings and such. The flip side to having an unusual name is...getting to use it for site names...because hardly anyone has the same name. I have never in my life met anyone in person with my name...only remotely via Myspace years ago, a person from Denmark. I was named after a traveling insurance salesman. He was a stout Norwegian. My paternal roots are Swedish so it all goes together anyway.

Tip: It's like 'Carl' with a 'J' instead of a 'C'(or K). (Believe it or not, simple as THIS should seem...I have thereafter been incessantly called 'CARL' ... "Oh, so it's CARL??" "NO...nevermind, my name is Zarklon from planet Nilvoid!" Some looks are priceless. lol.

Cornbread was already taken. Back in the mid 70s I was stationed in Alaska and there was a movie or show called "Cornbread, Earl and Me". One of the guys kept calling me Cornbread and the nickname stuck. Everyone no matter what rank called me Cornbread. Private Cornbread you are on Observation Post 2. Since Cornbread was taken I took the next best thing "Beans" as in Cornbread and Beans.

Great story, but I must admit I was thinking Beans was referencing to something else at first...LOL!

Did you think of trying Private Cornbread?

I really don't know if this is the correct place to put this, if it's not feel free to move it. For several years I was with REACT, and in addition to using C.B.,I ran ham,and my handle was Ranger 1. I decided to "upgrade". I really enjoy this forum, btw, I have not been on recently for I was in Palo Alto having surgrury, I had my entire right kidney removed. That was on the 6th of June, and am still not able to bend over or swing a coil yet. Here's hoping that maybe a couple of more weeks I can get back into the game. Also, I was born in "50".
