1969 Pontiac Firebird. 421 S.D. engine, 350TH. 164MPH and climbing. Rroute 130 in Central Jersey. All rush hour traffic was going the other way. Still miss the speed, would still like to go faster but I am 62 and who's gonna give that ride to an old geezer?
Now, the thread is "fastest car you ever drove", not owned. When I lived in "The OC" (Orange County, Ca), I had a friend that was a member of the Bahrani Royal Family. He owned an original Vector W8. Here is the "BBC" that would smoke your Skyline. World Products Twin Turbo All Aluminum Big Block Chevy. I believe IIRC the Big Block version topped out at 264mph and was the fastest production car on earth in 1988. They only made 18 of the originals (before Lamborghini bought them out). This one is chassis number 17. Since #18 was destroyed in a race, this was the last production W8:
These pics were taken in Laguna Beach, Ca. He let me drive it up Laguna Canyon Road, and I took it up to just over 100 (I didn't want to risk smashing a half million dollar car that wasn't mine). He took it up to 140-150 on the way back. The first pic was taken by his bodyguard as I was getting out of the car when we got back. Can you see what word was coming out of my mouth at that moment? HAHAHA Sickest car ever! The front end dropped away so fast, it felt like you were sitting on the hood with your heels on the front bumper doing 100+. Scary stuff. I even got to drive a Monster Miata (Miata with a 500hp supercharged 5.4, six speed, and a Jaguar Independent axle) one time. NOTHING compared to the Vector!
Not sure if it counts but I had a 2004 Suzuki GSXR 1000 ( sport bike ) it would do 200mph with no problem fastest I got it was up to 180 and the entire front end started to feel like it was levitating so that was time to let off.
A Ferrari mondale, mondail (?). A member of the country club I worked at in the early 90's had a couple ferrares a Testarossa was his and the mondale was his wife's. When talking he said he never had a price he wouldn't bet. I figured out his price(this is off top of my head) I told him it was either 50 g's or 100g's (again remembering), because he wouldn't let me drive his Ferrari at 250 g's, but let me drive his wife's which I think cost 150 g's. Hence his price, joke we had.
I drove the car to my house and told my wife I won it in a 18 hole play off, she drove it, but didn't believe I won it. She couldn't imagine betting my 86 accord to the Ferrari
I just posted that a thread from 2013 might not get a response and I get on this one and post then check to c that this one is from 2010, figured I'd erase this post or point out I just noticed the date.
Start video at 11:56 to skip the interview, see the car, and take a ride..
He's since painted it and it looks amazing..
Just for the record the Kyhorsepower video's was something me and my nephew started last year, we only got to make three before he passed away.. I really think it could have become something, but after he passed I just couldn't do anymore..
