Whats on the menu tonight?

Now wait just a damn minute here I can cook too! So Red and I will have a cooking Competition!!
Hey Limitool....none of my busines...but...What is your wife gonna say with Red and Me..A long haired "kid" destroying her kitchen?:laughing7::laughing7:

I PROMISE you both or anybody who's here she'll just sit back at laugh at us listening to our B.S. while we "destroy" the kitchen. She'll get a kick out of it for real. You can ask Huntsman53 (Frank) he's been here a couple of times and we had a blast. We're about as laid back as your going to find. My wife would be fine with it all. If you and Red want to have a "cook off" well hell... let's go for it. I'll do the one pan breakfast thing with the leftovers. Maybe throw in a few eggs.

Why not? twice the food!
I will leave my electric hopper at home, so you can cook without the fear of 15 shots per second, fully auto atta my new (to me) paintball marker! Don't want you limpin' while your cookin'.....:laughing7::laughing7:

He has a good point Red.... Don't make me step in Viking and take your toy away. I don't want either one of you limpin' around while your cookin'.

Nope you dont want me limping while i'm cooking,i use to run a kitchen single handed, stove top, broiler, oven, deepfryer.you'll slow me down,i might burn something:laughing9:

Ok, guys, I very seldom cooked before my wife passed away. My daughter and son-in-law stayed with me and my son for almost 2 weeks after my wife died. They mostly taught my son to cook, because I was still working part time as a 'greeter' at Wally World (after I retired, I got a little bored after 15 months). After they left, I had to take over because my son just couldn't quite 'cut it'. It was edible; but left a lot to be desired. I started with a 'Cow Pasture Bank' cookbook. If anyone is interested in what that is, check out the Rio Vista, Texas, bank. Anyway, by the time we moved to Idaho, I wasn't a 'chef' but my son and I enjoyed what I prepared. I really liked to take boneless, skinless, chicken breast, fresh, not frozen, and slice them into three strips. Then dip 'em in egg with a little milk added. Then put them in flour with a bit of seasoning. I would then put them in a deep skillet of hot canola oil. They were quite good with a big bowl of white gravy and either mashed 'taters or fries. I also liked to take the 'cube steaks' and do them the same way; but serve them with brown gravy and 'taters.

After I moved over here with my daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and son it has been a bit different. My son-in-law is quite the 'chef'. He cooked most of the meals before my daughter was able to do some of the cooking. My gripe is that he likes his meat rare. (I can't stand to see the juices 'running' red.) I make meatloaf and fruit salad. That was what they want me to make most of the time. I took the cookbook that I mentioned with some other meatloaf recipes and developed a meatloaf that everyone seemed to like. My son-in-law told me that no one wanted his meatloaf anymore after eating the ones that I made. Secret? It's a bit sweet. The secret of my fruit salad is maraschino cherries. I start with a large can of fruit cocktail, remove the grapes, add a couple of cut up apples, bananas, can of mandarin oranges, a small can of pineapple, walnuts, a little coconut, and lots of maraschino cherries. Then lots of either real whipped cream or 'Cool Whip' type topping. I also love to use the crockpot for cooking roast!

I miss being able to get in the kitchen and cook. I could do probably all of the cooking here; but there's just too much smoke in the other parts of the house. I can be in there for just a few minutes and my breathing is affected. I'm probably not in their part of the house more than 30, maybe 45 minutes a day total. My doctor keeps cautioning me about staying away from 2nd hand smoke. If the 'kids' hadn't got into financial trouble when my daughter became disabled, I guess my son and I would still be living together in some other part of town. (I would be a lot happier if we were.)

Ok, all that said: If we get together at Limitool's place, I would like to do some of the cooking! I don't have a great variety of things I cook that feel are great; but, I believe I can at least have some meals that everyone would enjoy. Hey, I'll probably never make it to Limitool's place; but you never know!!!

Everybody, I've really enjoyed this thread!

Well I'll tell ya what Texasred.... Whenever we have our big together we'll be sure to put your big Ribeye on the grill right after breakfast for the day. Because after everything is done and ready for supper it wouldn't take 3-4 minutes to cook mine. Mines "almost" done at room temp (I said ALMOST). You might not want to sit next to me or keep your eyes on your own plate.

And TR777.... We all realize it would be hard to pull off getting everybody in one spot but I promise if it's here you will have the floor one night to cook. I can picture it now.... TR777 with his apron cooking.... The "other" Red and I sitting on the deck and Mr. Viking making the beer runs for us. GMD52 (Gary).... Your welcome also.... So Gary, what's it gonna be helping the cook or sitting on the deck with us watching Viking run back and forth? Seriously though Viking... that roast did look good!!!!! :occasion14:

Since I'm slightly older than Viking. and now recently retired.....I think sitting back, relaxing, and nursing a cold Sailor Jerry rum and ginger ale while the meal is prepared sounds good...but rest assured the Lake and forest will provide some additions for the buffett......Gary

We'll have all the beer bought by 12:00 noon. The only runs anyone will be making is to the frig or cooler. Hey Gary... sounds like you just got over the 50 y/o entry level for party (without exemptions)which leaves "junior" thus far (won't name). And Viking... PROMISE I'll help ya buddy. And if you need your press back to 300 and body weight under 250 I'll definitely be helping YOU (whatever you say). :laughing7: And I love stew also buddy. :occasion14:

Gary... It would be great to have some fish, squirrel or any wildlife for a meal wouldn't it? :occasion14:

Texasred777... you get to wear the apron 1st. (I don't care what RedJames says... he'll get over it). :laughing7:

Guys.... I'd sure like to have that problem of who gets the next beer, cooks and who has the best story. 3-5 days wouldn't even scratch the surface for us would it? :icon_thumleft:
