I need some help. My computer seems to accumulate hundreds of Adware Tracking cookies in only a few minutes. It will accumulate over 500 in about 15 minutes until my laptop freezes up. I keep running my SuperAntiSpyware and it removes them but they keep coming back. I have never had this many tracking cookies in so short of a time period.

Is this a Virus? What can I do to fix it?

I tried to restore but it says Restoration Incomplete Your computer cannot be restored.

Can anybody help? Any suggestions? I am not the best with computers but I have restored in the past to an earlier date and removed viruses in the past by searching the virus name on another laptop but I dont know what to search for. Why cant I restore? thanks.

I have Windows XP.

We have a snake problem. they are eating all the animals including full size deer

A "deer" is considered a "weed" up north. I used to drive a Camaro until one trotted into my driver door. The impact caused it to spray faeces down the entire length of the "ice white" paint and caused hundreds of dollars (DIY) in damage.

I drive a Honda now. Thanks deer.

For now, go ahead and do so -- and since the "block sites from setting any data" radio button isn't checked in those pictures.. make sure you do that! Then delete the cookies again, and send that screenshot of your extensions

I changed the settings in Chrome, deleted all my browsing history and ran the SuperAntiSpyware again and there was not one single Adware!! So problem appears solved.

Prior to starting this thread, I changed some settings in AVG Free edition and I think its now blocking Malware in real time.

So I block it in AVG and I block it in Chrome. Problem solved thanks guys!!

I always thought I could fix computers but we never had them in school and I was a late learner. Im too far behind to catch up but at least I can keep this old XP running!!! thanks again appreciate it Treasurenet What Is It Forum is great for anything.

You have two options. In your settings, there should be an option to add an exception for specific websites OR you can re-enable the third party cookies to roll the dice and see what happens.

Cookies are not inherently bad. Remember they are your symptom here not your cause.

Yes and no. Like I said, it's probably an extension causing the problem. Disabling all cookies prevents the culprit from creating new ones, but doesn't get rid of the culprit. On the one hand, it can't hurt you now, but on the other, it isn't really gone.

I'd compare it to taking cold medicine. We've treated the symptoms but you still have a cold.

To truly fix this, we have to either a) delete and reinstall chrome or b) find the offending extension and remove it.

If you need to post a picture, do this.

Go back to the place in your settings where you found "Cookies" and changed that "radio button". There should be a button below that says "manage exceptions". Click it, and you will see a place to type the name of a website. Type "treasurenet.com" and to the right you should see a dropdown menu, which you should set to "Allow". This should fix your problem with treasurenet images. If you experience any weird similar problems on a site where you haven't had one before you can follow the same steps.

Now, when you want to truly solve the problem, you can either hunt for the extension or open the windows Control Panel and, I believe in XP, select "add or remove programs". Remove Chrome. It should look like the process for installing but it works in the opposite direction. Once it is uninstalled, open another web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer of Mozilla Firefox) and download the latest version of Chrome from the web. This should fully resolve the problem and is the easiest solution at this point. The one drawback is you will lose your saved history/passwords. This is only important if you have saved passwords that you won't remember if you lost them. If this is the case, there is a procedure I can share with you so that you can write down the passwords before re-installing Chrome. If you remember all your passwords, then this is no problem and you can go ahead.

You will no longer need to block cookies at that point.

Good luck!

I dont need to save my passwords. I may attempt this because I cant login to some sites so I re-set the settings back to default and Im hoping my AVG free will stop the cookies in real time.

I was wrong. AVG cant stop them in real time. Ill have to go back to Chrome settings to stop it there or re-install chrome when I get time because I cant login to anything. But I havent tried my bank yet.

I installed Firefox and I uninstalled Chrome. so Im assuming the malware will not attack Mozilla? Sounds like an easy fix, if it works.

I may lose my bookmarks. I didnt know how to import them. I took a screen shot of a few of them. Its no biggie if I lose them. I gotta fix this mess so I can do what I gotta do online and check my bank account/eBay/Paypal accounts etc.. and pay my bills.

Hope it works and I can always re-install Chrome. Thanks. Im surprised AVG didn't catch any of the malware in real time. 633 adwares got through. That's a lot.

Nope didnt work at all. I got 100 adwares on Mozilla in just a few minutes. I guess Im doing something wrong. Do I need to re-install Chrome? Im going to sleep. Try tommorrow night.
