I need some help. My computer seems to accumulate hundreds of Adware Tracking cookies in only a few minutes. It will accumulate over 500 in about 15 minutes until my laptop freezes up. I keep running my SuperAntiSpyware and it removes them but they keep coming back. I have never had this many tracking cookies in so short of a time period.

Is this a Virus? What can I do to fix it?

I tried to restore but it says Restoration Incomplete Your computer cannot be restored.

Can anybody help? Any suggestions? I am not the best with computers but I have restored in the past to an earlier date and removed viruses in the past by searching the virus name on another laptop but I dont know what to search for. Why cant I restore? thanks.

I have Windows XP.

I have run the AVG and SuperAntiSpyware many times and it removes EVERY tracking cookie/spyware. No where does it say I have a virus but I was just guessing that maybe I do.

The scan removes every one but 500 come back in 10 minutes when I open Chrome..

Okay now I think we are getting somewhere. I know we are a little out of sync because we are missing each other's posts but I can walk you through disabling tracking cookies in chrome. That may help solve the issue.

I notice some posts are on a delay. That would be great if you could outline the process. You have already given me enough to work with: "disabling tracking cookies in chrome" thanks

I use the free version of Malwarebytes to get rid of annoying stuff. There are some things you can never seem to completely remove, but you can keep them under control. Your SuperAntispyware isn't keeping your problem in check.
The problem just started. I can remove them but why am I getting so many???

Okay, you are on Windows XP so there should be a "wrench" symbol in the upper right corner. Click it. This is to access "settings". There should be a heading that says "privacy". If not, look for a button that says "show advanced settings or something similar". When you find the "privacy" heading, there should be a button that says "content settings" Click it. The first heading should say "Cookies" on the left. There are several "radio" buttons (fill in the bubble). Yours is probably set to "allow local data to be set". Change it to "block all sites from setting any data". Then save the settings.

Now, delete the cookies again as you have done before. Let us know if they come back.

Sorry, wanted to get that post out there asap.

Next, if this problem is related to Chrome, you might have an extension ("addon") that is the culprit. In the settings window I directed you to, you should be able to access a list of your installed extensions (toolbars, searchhelpers, etc). If you can screenshot the list, it would help as anything fishy should be obvious.

You can get things like this in emails, especially if someone sends you a picture they got off of Facebook or some other less trusted site. You can also get it if you recently downloaded some new software.

I also hear those free porn sites are a bad place to pick up adware and other malicious stuff. I've never checked out any of those sites, so I'm not sure if that's true...
