Welcome to the site! Please post an introduction thread.

Hi, I'm Greg from Michigan. Just looking to learn and read these great stories and tips. I have already learned alot from the post I have read and am looking forward to more. I am absolutely amazed at some of the photo's and stories I have read so far, It's amazing some of these lost treasures really exist. I am fairly new to this but also have had some great finds already and am looking forward to many, many more.

Thanks Greg(aka wanting rings)

Hi my name is Steve, I enjoy long walks on the beach, sushi, my steaks med rare, oh yeah, I am new to gold panning, I live in Mesa, Arizona. I actually heard about the site by looking for panning apps on my phone. Great to see others with the same interests.

Hello everyone, New to all of this. My grandfather used to hunt a lot, he always used to tell me stories and show me things when I was younger which sparked my imagination. Anyway, I'm a Staff Sergeant in the US Army stationed down here at Fort Benning (Tanker). From what I'm researching Ft Benning seems like a decent place to get started. If anyone is in the area that wouldnt mind me tagging along or to mentor someone let me know! Thanks in advance...

Hi I'm Bob. I mostly hunt the beaches here in Westerly RI. A couple of weeks ago I helped a woman find a ring. Looking to expand my hunting grounds once the summer is over.

GREETINGS! I am a Newb from Litchfield Minnesota. About 60 miles west of the Twin Cities. I am really big into coin shooting, and hope to branch out into colonial relics. I started detecting about 12 years ago with a "not so serious radioshack brand" detector.. and was hooked. Fast forward 12 years and I am finally diving back into it. MAN! a lot has changed! I picked up a Garret Ace 350, and love it! I also found that I cant live without my Garrett Pro Pointer. I would love to meet others in the area that would foster my education and passion for detecting! I am a Father of 2 boys, 6 and 2.. and have an amazing "and very tolerant" wife who supports my many hobbies. I also love to go camping, fishing, and Airbrush. Thanks to all who read this! and have a great day!

Great growth going on here. Welcome to the Other newcomers, as I am too am new here. In a very short time by reading these post and meeting some other people in my area it has helped me improve a lot. Thanks All

I am new...finally stumbled onto this! So much to explore on this site! Didn't know there were this many history nerds like me!!!! Nobody around here seems to go detecting...Anyway, HOW IN THE WORLD do you start a new post or thread or whatever it's called?

Hello everyone,

I'm a new hunter from California. I enjoy metal detecting and gold prospecting. So far, this seems like a fantastic place to be!

Hello everyone. I am brand spanking new to this and not sure how to get started really. I have done some metal detecting at the beach before but didn't get much in the way of results. Found a lot of condom wrappers and some current coins so I am looking to you all to help me with locations and tools. I live in Chattanooga Tennessee and there were many civil war battles fought here. One in particular on missionary ridge but I feel so many would have already explored that location. I really love beaches but I don't want to get the evil glares from beach goers if I do metal detecting there. Any advice?

hello. my name is gerald (gerry) conrod, 57, origionally from toledo, came to san diego at the end of '89, and have been up in crest for the last 4 or 5. i have 35 years experience in the automotive field, paint work mostly, i've done a good share of body work, some time as a body shop manager as well. a couple new car dealerships, a shop of my own, and a few privately owned shops......just two long sentences, and thats 35 + years a nutshell. good lord. i dont think i have ever seen the comparison i try to make when i'm speaking to someone about how fast this life goes by, as looking back at what i've just written, and just flashing through what all the statement entails, as this. i just don't usually think that i;ve gotten it right, by what i've said, by what imean. but that one worked.
oh well, i have never thought that i might not be ' a little strange' , but thank you for bearing with me while i went on that little .... whatever you'd want to call it, there.
i found your site after i started looking for information as to what to do with a bunch of gold bearing rock that ive been given the opportunity to do something with. from the julian area. so i am looking to learn what i can about the latest technologies in extraction methods, where and who to contact that'd be interested in using this types of rock in building with it, walls, fireplaces,etc... its beautiful, really. very decorative. hobbiests. whats new in. leeching, whats the cost effective , as well as what can be used in a small sized operation to begin with.
i have a bazillion questions. gladly accepting any input .i thank you for allowing me to speak as a part of your site. thank you very much.

Hey all. CRH newb here from Dallas area. I've been lurking here for a while, just learning while sorting a few boxes of cents and nickels once and a while. I've recently decided to step up the volume, so I figured I would join and see if I can contribute a bit.

Hello all,
I'm a new member from New Jersey and I've been coin roll hunting since I was about 11. Looking forward to seeing all of your great finds and looking forward to sharing some of mine with you guys as well!
Happy hunting,

Hello :) I am really enjoying reading the communication, knowledge and friendly back and forth on here.

Hello! I bought my son a medal detector a couple of years ago and I have used it more than him. We live on a farm and that is mainly where I stay. I have been finding some things lately that I have questions about so after reading everyone's posts for about 18 months I decided to join the conversation.

Have a great day!

I started about the same way. Now he can't keep up. I, similar to you, waited and kept reading and finally joined. The stories keep me coming back all the time.
