Hey all,
I had an cheap unit about 30 years ago, when I lived in the Mojave desert. I now live in the pacific northwest and am thinking of getting something like a Fischer F2. Any suggestions?
TIA

Hello Everyone
My name is Daniel and I'm just starting here. I live in San Francisco, California. Hoping to find tons of tips and tricks on my new hobby of gold prospecting, can't wait to learn more about the site.

Hello to all. I am new to the site, but I have been treasure hunting for 20 years or so. Glad to see so many people interested in this great hobby. I myself would rather be outside metal detecting than anything else. I live in the piedmont of north Carolina and I am always looking for new diggers to go dirt fishing. Thanks for all posts, I really enjoy seeing everyones finds and hearing all the great stories that go with them. Keep swinging and good luck to all.

Might be a newbie

I have been interested since I was a kid.

Been lurking for a long time and decided to join.

I have not bought a detector yet, but looking at a few different newbie recommended units. Was really surprised to learn so many regulations now exist, seems crazy that a public location like a park can stop someone from looking around so to speak.

Because of that I am going to try and hook up with a local club and go out on a hunt before I take the leap.

Hello this is my third account I all I forgot my password once agin
It's been about a year or so scenes I was last here

Hello Everyone!
My name is Jason and I am from WI. I started metal detecting this past summer and have quickly realized that the Bounty Hunter Quick Draw II that I have isn't the machine for me. I am leaning on the Garrett AT Pro for my next machine, but am looking for any advice for or against it. I also am looking for a good place to purchase my next detector and accessories. Having done some research online, I have heard too many horror stories about dealers and I am looking for advice on where to purchase.
Thanks in advance for all replies and I look forward to all comments.

Jason

Hey Billy the first step is to figure out what your budget is for a machine. I jumped in with both feet and bought an expensive one. But I also waited a while to get it. So figure out a price range and we will give you some great recommendations. Just a heads up you will get addicted to this hobby! When you start finding good stuff you won't want to stop :-)

I was lookin to spend around $500*at the most for a detector. Im n Dupage county IL not sure where the best place is to buy one. So if anybody has some info id appreciate it.

Billy your best bet is to do some research on the detectors in that price range and see what your options are. Then go onto the forum and look for the metal detecting section, from there you can click on individual brands and ask questions on there. There are a few guys on here that own metal detector stores and have very good reputations. I personally bought a Teknetics T2 SE but there are lots of great companies and lots of great machines. Good luck

Hi there, I've been a beach comber/digger, garage saler, EBay buyer/seller for a long time. Finally purchased a Garrett ace 250 and have been poking around the yard. So far only found a bunch of old nails & metal car parts. I am a newbie and still shy about going anywhere off my property but have been reading the forums & learning a lot about laws & etiquette. Thank you for that! I live in Lexington Ky and would love to meet up with more experienced hunters. Can't wait for Spring!

Hi. Heard about this site while doing a search for info on a new detector that I am waiting to arive. It will be my 1st detector and can't wait to get started.
