Welcome to the site! Please post an introduction thread.

Hello everyone. I am in the process of buying a metal detector and hope to get back into MD after 30+ years. This site appears to be a great resource to all MD'ers and look forward to chatting and getting tips.

Hi everyone. I'm new to metal detecting and i'm from Upstate New York. I cant wait to get back out there.

Hi all!

My name is Frank and I am from Falls Church Virginia. I am interested in all treasure hunting, but Gold prospecting (gold panning, sluicing) and metal detecting primarily. I am brand new this this hobby! I am glad to find this resource and I look forward to learning and making new friends. I live along the Virginia Pyrite/gold belt and I am eager to find my first gold nugget!

Howdy from Iowa....Awesome...site! Big fan of everything except maybe the carwash vacuum sniping..That sounds kind of disgusting..

Hi, I did post an experience but should've posted here first, but thankyou and am really looking forward to reading everyone's experiences and sharing some of mine. I am from Melbourne, Victoria in Australia and have only been metal detecting with my partner now for about 3 months and so far love it! We have found just a few little treasures but it is the excitement of actually "finding something" that we love. While our weather here is freezing, wet and miserable it makes for an interesting time when we go out into the bush and am looking forward to going to beaches when the weather is a bit warmer! Love reading about all the finds and wonder if there are any other members from Australia.

New to this thread. Live in Eastern PA. Love to learn!!! So, I thrift shop in my spare time (garage sales on the weekends) to develop my thinking skills. Feel free to use this line when your significant other wonders what is in THAT new box/bag that just walked through the door.

Hubby and our oldest son (7) also have metal detectors and we detect with both children (7 and 1.5) whenever we get a chance.

Welcome aboard all new members ! Have fun and enjoy this site. Any questions check out the help section or ask a Mod we are here to help.
Happy Hunting (HH)

Hello from Louisiana, over the years I don't get out as much as I use to, over the years I've bottle hunted, metal detected and living down South in the early 50s was able to travel the Big Easy without the fear we have today, I need to buy another detector torn on which one, I'll open a can of worms! Which is your Favorite? I posted this somewhere else before I found this Forum, Thanks for having me aboard, Ron Costanza

This was found in an old barn the owner was a Dr. this and a lot of old iron and rusted tools, not sure what it is? it weighs about 8 pounds, I see Cannon Balls with 1 hole but nothing with 3? What else could this have been? Thanks in advance, from Louisiana Ron Costanza

Hello. I just received my first ever metal detector as an anniversary present. It is a Discovery 1100. I am in Ontario Canada and this is the first time I will be using it. I look forward to getting some help in setting things up with the detector. And also learning lots from others on this site. :)

Thank you SilverLust91. I appreciate it. Where do I post for problems getting my detector to work properly?

No problem! The best place would probably be in "Metal Detector" forum in the "brand" subcategory for your detector.

Hey from S.E. VA to all of you dirt diggin' diehards. I've recently retired from a local fire dept after 32 years and am looking forward to knocking the dust off my machine (which has sat idle way to long) to find my next million dollar historical find (yea, I gave up on the last one).. Kidding aside, I've been reading posts here for a while and must say.. You people are impressive! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.. and for inspiring this old coot to get back to diggin'. Good luck finding the big one (or lots of little ones!)

Hi to all MDer. I am from south China.
Thank treasurenet.com to gather all the detector fans together here to share and discuss everything about this amazing sport.
Use explorer xs more. My favorite is beach hunting.
Good luck to everyone.

Hi all, I am a Newbie. So new in fact i haven't even purchased a detector yet. I am reading everything on here for starters. I am making notes of old "ghost" and/or abandoned towns in my area to check out. My wife and i are both retiring soon and we thought this would be a great way to enjoy the outdoors and each other while keeping fit. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all the forum entries made here. I have learned a lot just reading things you guys discuss. Thanks

Hello Everyone! I am new to this site and to the MD world.
I´m from Venezuela and I´ve being thinking about doing Metal Detecting since last year, it took me to investigate about brands and types of metal detectors. First I was going to buy a Garrett ACE 350 but I decided to travel to Florida State and visit Kellyco so I could tell them my inquires. First when I arrived to Kellyco the first question a salesman asked me was what type of soil are you going to search? I said mostly sand on the beaches because i live on an Island and time to time hard soil. Then he asked me if I had a specific machine in mind? I answered yes, a Garrett ACE 350. He said NO, I wouldn´t go with the 350 because the beaches sand mineralization and he keep giving me a high class of real MD experience, those guys really know about metal detecting, that´s for sure! Finally I decided to buy the Minelab X-Terra 305 because my budget and characteristics of what i pretend to do with it. The best of all was that with the 305 they gave me a whole bunch of gifts including the Pro Find 25 Pinpointer.
I haven´t use the equipment yet but i´m very excited about doing my first search. I´ll keep posting my experiences.
Good bye for now
cheers

Newbie

A newbie has joined the group. Don't ask why but I just woke up one day and became interested in this hobby virtually overnight. I am excited to get involved into this hobby and anxious to get started on my first hunt. I have been working a lot here lately and haven't had the time to hunt but in the mean time I have been gathering all of the information I could about metal detecting. I know I have a lot to learn. I look forward to reading about detecting and am looking forward to gaining experience from all of you on the forum. Thanks for the opportunity to join your group. I have access to a Bounty Hunter Pioneer Ex and I just bought a Garrett Ace 250. I just ordered a Garrett Pro pointer, waiting for it to get here. Still deciding on shovels and digging tools. Any help appreciated.

I am very green around the horns to this hobby, medal detecting. I have requested my family to give me a medal detector and the fix ins to go with it for my birthday this month. I believe I will have so much fun with this hobby and learn a great deal about treasure hunting's. I'm looking forward to a long relationship with my medal detector. As of right now I do not know the name and brand but I did ask for a good one and not a cheap one. When I get it, I will post it.
