Franklin Pierce did more in his term as president of the United States for the Knights of the Golden Circle than any other member that belonged to the organization. Was he making those decisions on his own? I think not. I think he was placed by the K.G.C. in his position so he could place K.G.C. members into other positions, in order to over through the United States Government. Think about it, If you were a top secret organization would you want to disguise your leader as "The Leader" of the public you were hiding from?? Almost every position that Pierce appointed was filled by defenders of"Southern Rights" especially slave owners rights in religious form. Was it just a tainted Democratic platform? I do not think so, just look at what the people he appointed did for(to) the United States during their terms. How many of them would soon be holding political offices in the C.S.A. ? Some of the Judges and other U.S. politicians Pierce selected remained in their positions before during and after the Civil War especially in Texas. Some made serious judgments that effected Bloodhound laws and the enforcement of them. This was a direct blow to the abolitionist. Many years after the Civil War some of them were still at their helm guiding the rudder towards K.G.C. ideals. Just look at the U.S. Judges he appointed and what they became and did. Look at the Oberlin–Wellington Rescue to see it for yourself. A coincidence happens once in a while, not every day in every way.
