Any information that anyone can give is OK to me….I am a physical dower that uses mental dowse when I have to….There are sometimes when you can not use bait or just do not know how to locate that kind of object….Early in my studies I was tracing gold in a small stream in the Sierra Nevada’s and came upon a mine shaft that was high upon the cliff above it. That seemed to be the source of the gold…..At that time I had never tried to locate caves so I gave it a try…So I went and tried to follow the shaft…About 2 miles up is where the mine shaft started…Yes the vein just happened to end at the stream…Art

no matter if its a physical or mental dowser
.. i think is one important tip to get success

I can tell something more about it, but perhaps ..
dowsers not interested to know or get confused with these "new age" things

You have put many good things here (i have much to learn)
.. even treasure hunters have been encouraged to using Dowsing for clues

Art, you say you also do psychic dowsing. Well, if you did you would have encountered spiritual entities, as I have before.
It is definitlely something to be aware of when on Indian land, old townsites and mines where people had died!

In fact, one should ask the rods if permission will be granted by the spirits to proceed in the search.

I want to thank everyone who has given me "likes". Widomanmx, Nirtric, two bear, Real de Tayopa, An Ri Rua, and I need to check my list for others. I know I am protrayed as angry but the truth is I love the locating I just don't like to see it perverted and watered down like some homeopathic solution where there is not even one atom left. The reason I repeat things is for people who have not read the essentials before. And also I should point out I rarely do the pure dowsing, usually always use some type of amplifier. Yeah, I know some people say you don't need them, but it's like playing an electric guitar without one. I've also heard some people don't use a witness. Same deal, some kind of macho thing which is ridiculous. Most all the top pros use some kind of amplifier even those who say they can do it without. It gets to be a mental/psychic thing without and you know what I have to say about that!

Yeah, if I didn't feel joyful about locating I would not be wanting to share this with others.

I will be busy this week...I am testing a new Dowsing rod..It has a laser as part of it. ..The handle is spring loaded which makes it move up and down a lot.It looks and acts like a rod that was called a Doodle Bug

I always think about my time in the service on this day...When I returned home in 61 it was a different world than it is now..I found a good job my first day out..Most of the 200 workers at that plant were ex military..So if any of you are doing the hiring these guys are good workers.....they have learned to work as a team and follow orders all the time...Art

A real pro dowser showed me his doodlebug,years ago.

Its bare copper wire rolled around a pencil six turns, with part of the wire as a handle, like an L rod, and you just use one hand to work it. Its super sensitive!

I crawl on all fours on bedrock, looking for gold with it. It works great over cracks.
It bobs up and down over gold, and will swing sideways as well.

Cherokees once used a red ochre pendulum for lost objects. They also had a way with both hands. The Cherokee dowser would point his index fingers at the hand holding the pendulum.

I tried this, but my pendulum needed to be held in the hand as normally used and the index finger (or fingers) of the opposite hand point in direction toward the pendulum. You turn until the finger and swinging pendulum agree on a direction.

I pinpointed and located in my closet (from across the room) something gold, which for some reason haven't been able to find for years since moving here.

I take that back and edited the comment above.....when the gold object was found in the closet, I used my left hand which is how I'd normally do it and pointing the index finger of my right hand. This is a string pendulum that found the gold.

I write using my left hand, hold a hammer, scissors, computer mouse, with the right hand.

Now on the gemstone pendulums with a long chain, I can loop the chain over a finger, then around the index fingers to hang down. For these pendulums it does work holding it with my opposite hand, but signals are weaker. Using it this way and pointing with the left hand index finger, maybe there could be a potential for discrimination (since the close signals are not as strong).

I'll have to work on that to see whether it helps any.

Those are called spiral L-rods, a guy from the Ukraine was selling and must have been making them......I almost ordered a pair once to try.

It does, but the turns are spaced apart much more, and you don't need any fancy handle. Just use copper wire, that is about # 14 to 16 gauge. You get the turns by winding the wire around a pencil. But take the pencil out after you are done.

It is super sensitive, and will bend and bob for even very fine gold buried in a crack. I steel wire, but it picked up metallic black sands too much. I am still figuring out stuff about it.

The number of turns designates the frequency of whatever it is you are trying to locate, so that is something to experiment with.

The term "doodlebug" applies to several type of dowsing instruments.

The dowser who showed me this was an oil dowser specialist, and often just used his hands to get signals.
I pointed out where there was an outcrop of quartz rock on his hillside property that was rich gold ore, less than 80 feet from his house, but he showed no interest in getting it!

After going out with him on dowsing trips, I found out he just wasn't able to find gold! Why, I don't know. Probably, because he wasn't tuned in to it, and envisioning it in his minds eye, which is what I do.
He certainly had no need to find gold, as he was fairly well off.

I learned long ago to dowse only out of need with gold or valuable objects, as it works much better for me.

Let me correct that:

The turns may just act as an amplifier is all. Its not conclusive that the number of turns is tuned to the frequency of your object. But that is worth looking into!
