VA saying Vets with PTSD unable to own guns

Rebel, what is it you are trying to state my Friend

Cris....the reason I went to the balloon story was to point out how these "studies" of behavior etc. are usually conducted by a bunch of self-proclaimed intellectuals that make generalizations of why people are having mental issues whether it be PTSD, depression, suicidal thoughts etc, etc.
Recondigger seems to be totally aware he has a problem and is in total control of it. Why is he being told to get help? Apparently he has. Another question I have is, why are there so many different organizations that vets are told they should seek help from? If the government-controlled VA is so great, why should a vet have a need to look elsewhere? I have delt with the VA and was initially turned away at the door.................twice. The second time I told the lady I wasn't going to beg for anything, then she wanted to listen and I walked out. The VA is needed to direct the financial help but everything else needs to be handled by non-government people.

Well I have to say I don't have total control over it if I did I would be able to sleep at night and would be able to enjoy things a lot more but I'm trying I have been in treatment for over a year now and am a ton better then I was but I'm not crazy. Yes I have a short fuse at time and yes I get worked up and have no clue why and I have " flash backs" but I still know what I'm doing and what the consequences are of my action in the monument.

Hang in there recon, and again thank you for your service..... Many here have never served so they have no idea, they judge without even knowing what you experience..... My experiences were different than yours I am sure, I would not want to trade places.... My underfire was SAM missles, not the same as yours...... I salute you, if I could buy you a beer I would....:occasion14:

And I would love to drink one with ya

I say thank you to all our vet's here I Happily served 9 years. Came out o.k. But I wonder how many Cop's and firemen suffer the same thing. I can remember pulling out burnt children. mutilated accident victims, senseless shooting victims even watching one of my brother firefighters falling into a raging inferno and not be able to reach him.Others crushed At one time we were 1000 man strong some took the route of suicide some learned not to take anything that happened home with them we had our own way of dealing with it.
Once the city thought it was a good idea for a PHD pych to live with us for a week. Didn't work, he thought us all crazy the way we handled it. Our point how can you talk to some guy with no idea of what we do.
We learned to suck it up and would meet daily to discuss any problems. What happened in the house stayed in the house.
The same with the cops if your not one you'll never know what bother's them

recon hang in there and don't let small minds and small minded people get to you. You are going to do what is best for you and you will overcome this too. I beleive this with all my heart. Cheers, my friend.
Call on me anytime you may wish.

I salute anyone who puts their life on the line for their fellow man....They are not paid anything near what they are worth.

Some complain about our views yet never put their life on the line to defend or protect this country and its people.

I'm not sure wat all the hype is about but as a nam vet I feel a lot of disgruntled vets felt that we were used and came back with a desire to "get wat we can from the govt" for wat they did. Especially from the nam where we came home to be called vile names and spit on. I know several who dilliberately saw their counselor and "acted" nutsy to get the tag "PTSD" and receive that extra money. I told them at the time that this was wrong and only makes it harder for real PTSD patients to get the kind of care that they need. Lately it seems that everyone who comes home from a war has some sort of mental breakdown and labeled "PTSD". Maybe its the establishment trying to make amends or whatever but I still think its bad for all of us.
As far as the 2nd amendment is concerned, I am a staunch believer in it and it is being attacked vigorously by a bunch of idiots BUT I also know some REAL PTSD patients who I would even hesitate to give a gun to. Sort of a catch 22. As patriots (yes I still feel like one), we should be vigilant to "all encompassing" statements by the left who don't know the right end of a barrel making knee jerk decisions that put us all in the same category as "potential terrorists".
Lets all remember that there are a lot of crazies out there that the accommodating establishment has created who have no morals and should not be allowed to have guns. Unfortunately, how can u stop a criminal element who don't give a damn about laws and look at people as pieces of meat who get in their way. My answer was, is, and will continue to be a 12ga behind my door.
This is a veeery complicated issue and what we can do is make sure our "representatives" get to the real problems instead of *******izing our constitution which some of us fought and died for.

Bogey,

Welcome to TN and thank you for your service and sacrifice. I served 67-71.

You ever notice many times those yelling the loudest to compromise our rights never served a day defending them......

Again welcome to TN and thank you for your service and patriotism......

Hmmm...people serve in different ways. Not being in the armed services does not mean people would not die for their country or their beliefs.

Crispin my friend, notice I said crying the loudest to compromise our rights.

When people say they are willing to sacrifice our rights and kill Americans on american soil with out due process of law they should at least have the courage to put on a uniform if they are that afraid of an American citizen that disagrees with our government.

So besides folks from foreign countries and people who didnt serve in the military who else do you think does not have the right to post?

How many of the signers of the declaration and constitution carried arms in the revolutionary war?
