It is NOT the gun ban reducing the crime (murder) rate. In my opinion, it's the "Stop and Frisk" policy they have going on which even they admit is controversial. It does prove a point though, they are "profiling" and then stopping and firsking suspicious people. Apparently they are not stopping the honest citizen on the street that is minding his or her own business. No need to take their guns away, THEY ARE ALREADY GONE! I would think that someone that is a victim of a crime should be able to sue bonehead bloomberg for taking their means of defense away. Personally, if I were to be stopped and frisked because I "looked" suspicious I'd be totally p-off! If I'm walking down the street, comitting no crime, it would mean I'm in pursuit of my happiness and some nazi-acting cop has no right interferring with it. What's suspicious looking?...blacks in a white neighborhood? Wearing a hoodie? Hat on backwards? Pants down my butt? Drinking from a styrofoam cup? Drinking a large soda? Another question, how many of the 414 were gang related? I saw where 237 of the murders were by gun. That means 177, almost half, were killed by another method. I'm sure, if you took away the gang-related killings from the total killings by gun in ANY year, you would see that a relatively few are shot by non-gang members. Any decrease in the murder rate anywhere is good but we have to look deep into the cause. I don't think taking guns away from honest citizens did anything in NY. They gave up their guns and now they can be stopped on the street for appearing suspicious to a cop. Maybe the thugs should be required to wear star badges so we can identify them easily.
