This thread is interesting...Really Shows who cares about others besides themselves. We don't know when we pass people in a store if they have a loved one that is in the middle of chemo or their spouse, parent, child, grandchild has a compromised situation.

If a mask really bothers you going in a store, have your stuff delivered. There is nowhere in this country that doesn't have a church, store or a food pantry that has contacts with volunteers who will deliver and set the stuff on your drive or porch. Or, pick it up curbside and they will load it in your vehicle. Jeez, problem solved.

This probably isn't the time to go shoe or clothes shopping and if anyone needs those things, order them online. Clearly everyone here has internet. There isn't any stores that do not ship non essentials.

I don't like the law about ADULTS having to wear seat belts...That's MY vehicle and MY Life. It depends on the wreck if it's gonna help or hurt. If I'm by myself or with someone who doesn't like it either, I don't wear one. If I have someone in MY vehicle that is a confirmed seat belt wearer, I will wear the lap belt because I have enough sense and compassion to know I could be thrown out of my seat in a wreck and my body could hit them and hurt or kill them. I also support the right for motorcycle riders over 21 to choose to wear a helmet or not. It only affects the rider.

This GLOBAL PANDEMIC is something that has so many unknowns that I Believe would be so easily killed off in the USA within 60days if it lost it's Human Hosts as I think Chub previously said. The only way for that to happen is to either stay home or use a face covering over the nose and mouth when in public. Nobody needs to spend any lengthy amount of time in a store. Close borders in and out and make this whole thing a bad memory so we can all get back to our normals.

I also have talked to family and friends who are on the fence about masks...Those who Don't want to wear them in public....I asked those who qualified for a Stimulus Check if they sent it back cause if they aren't trying to help just a bit and wear a mask and believe whatever news they hear that this is just a bad cold, there's no need to take government money. NONE sent the checks back. They either bought some toy they wanted or saved it. So then I asked them if by chance they were wrong and this is worse than they thought and God forbid THEY caught Covid-19 would they be willing to sign a legal document right then stating that they would Not go take up a hospital bed, utilizing medical staff, equipment and PPE's which could keep someone else that has been doing everything that the CDC et al has recommended from getting treated. NONE WERE THAT CONFIDENT!

MY OPINION...If someone doesn't wear a mask in public and they get sick, even if they are 22yrs old, no underlying conditions and they are in the prime of their life, They give up any right to treatment if a 99yr old or anyone else who's followed all of the CDC et al recommendations needs that hospital bed and treatment. Freedom to choose, Right?

These masks or face coverings are Not 100% Covid 19 proof, they Do HELP The Wearers some from inhaling from others or exhaling the mist that comes out when we talk, cough or sneeze, but they also help others we come in contact with, more so if others are wearing them....IF they are worn right. I see people wearing them that have them on every which way but the correct way.

To the question of what's going on in our areas, Kansas City now has become mandatory mask wearing inside public areas. KC had a lot of looting and protests, mainly on the Plaza and that nonsense also coincided with the incubation period from Memorial Day that I'm sure everyone saw on national news from LOZ. Commercial Grade Fireworks are booming like a war zone in some areas. One hospital in KC is the main one those infected with Covid-19 are sent, to keep it out of the other hospitals as much as possible.

St. Patrick's Day Parade and Celebrations and Gay Pride Parade were canceled this year by the organizers, but Juneteenth went on as planned with 3 people shot I think and one shot dead there. KC has had A Lot of homicides this year, 126 so far compared to all of last year, 149, mostly on the East Side and everyday there are some trying to tear different monuments down and planning to destroy some churches. Most of the churches are doing live stream services to keep people safe. I know some of the older churches have hired security firms to stay there 24/7 and most of the older churches have bullet proof glass covering their stained glass windows. Sad.

I've lost One Aunt and One Cousin so far to this insidious virus. In my Aunt's situation, it's believed she got it from making masks with a volunteer group and my cousin probably got it from his son. In Both cases, No Wake or Funeral. We watched from the cars at the cemetery as their cremains were buried. She had a burial plan for years, but not allowed right now.

Kentuck, I'm sorry for your loss. I know the feeling of not being able to be with someone dying during this time. It's very hard to get that out of your mind what they might of been feeling or thinking. I do have my faith though that God and other loved ones who have gone before were with them.

Stay Safe Everyone!

Three months ago, they were ordering us NOT to wear masks. They said it didn't make any difference. Now they're telling us to wear masks, because they lied! They lied so all the doctors and nurses would have masks! So either they're lying now (masks don't work) or they let thousands of people die from the virus so all the doctors and nurses would have masks! That's why I have an attitude about wearing masks! If it's so important now, why did you let all of us walk around without them for months?

When people complain about examples...And who should tell them what to do....I ask , who does what the government or health administration tells them?

Why aren't you wearing a mask Mr. Pence? It's a bad example not to!

News had two stupid reporters on the other day when I was working in another room , I had to go see what channel was that insane...
And would those rabid anti-Trump reporters do what Trump , or anyone associated with his party told them to do? Heck no. But they squawk about not being told what to do ,or what they are told to do is wrong. Or was wrong. Or...Anything but agree and comply with as simple a thing as a mask when asked by a store or business.
Because....Trump...

Idiots.

I would have threw one on & purposely Mumbled into the Mike, Then Take it off & Say Nuff Said ! Bye !

I am gonna start wearing my dive mask and snorkel... lets see the looks I get from that one. heh

Thought about cotton balls stuffed into snorkel for "filtration"... but it only took a split second to realize where that would end up.

The headline flashed through my mind - "man land diving chokes on cotton balls in store".

as far as the Sickness. Deaths are Dropping Drastically & Numbers of infected are Rising because of testing.

Which tells me it's only equivalent to a bad Cold now

People dont die from this virus the same day they are diagnosed......some are on a respirator for 2-weeks or more before the virus takes their life.

More testing is being done but the only thing that explains the rise in hospitalizations is more people are getting the virus and it is spreading faster.

Actually if the virus mutated to become stronger it would explain more serious cases but I have not seen that suggested anywhere.

Let's revisit this in a couple weeks after the data comes in and see what the mortality is with this recent surge.
Since the common cold only kills 8-12 people per year in the US ....I'd bet the numbers are going to be just a bit higher then that.

I'd have told the media , "enjoy your online attendance from here on out because you are done being indoors at any more conferences/updates.
For your own health of course...."

I lost a friend and co-worker to this back about 5 years ago. Pneumonia is a bad way to go.

Once you’re on the respirator, it’s all over.

Off the subject but not wearing a helmet on a motorcycle could affect more than just the rider. Depending on whether the motorcyclist dies from helmet preventable injuries or not.

If so then many folks are affected. Not only the loved ones but if another vehicle is involved then the driver of that vehicle could be charged with vehicular homicide or manslaughter not to mention the mental anguish associated with ending someones life, accident or not.

Then there are monetary considerations to take into account if permanent brain damage results and costs easily surpass insurance coverage. I'm sure I've left some things out but you get the idea.

That being said I still think it should be left up to the individual. Same with wearing a life jacket on a boat or jet ski. I feel everyone has the right to live free or die! :headbang:

I'm sorry for your loss. I've never personally known anyone to die of pneumonia but have heard its brutal.

That is not true in all cases. Respirators save lives in a lot of cases. If my Dad wouldn't of had one after a bad wreck and surgery, he would of died for sure.

You are right of course, I was comparing it to individual decisions like your last paragraph. 100% agree.

Sorry for your loss.
Both my Father and my older Brother died from pneumonia in just the last 4 years. :(
Dad was 98 and my Brother 76. Both had been on respirators.

BUT I do wear one in public buildings because it is the law . Most here are not wearing a mask at the store. I really don't think it helps but I am a law abiding man for the most part and the mask causes me no discomfort at all.
Our numbers for covid 19 once again dropped in my county . it was 51 but is now at 50. some counties are over 13000 , it pays to live out in the country .

Betcha there’s not a single case of the flu this year in your county.
