I believe my TNet friends more then the tv news, how are things in your county, state or town, regarding covid 19 and the dumb ass riots reported going on ?
No riots or unrest here. Covid is getting close for my wife and myself. Our guys who cut our lawn for us ( 1 acre, I'm getting too old and fat to do it myself ) both tested positive this past week. We never interact personally during their work here. One blames the other for hitting all the bars on Front Street in Georgetown, as soon as they opened the First. A woman my wife works in the same building with, has a 15 year old daughter that just tested positive. The rest of her family are negative. Go figure.
As they say, eventually we will all be exposed. Grocery shopping has become crowded with non mask wearers, as all other businesses. SC has had a 40% increase in cases in the past two weeks. Freedom to spread.

I haven't piped in for a bit...
Yesterday ... mid-day... they issued a cease bar alcohol sales.
The three counties around me... the largest in Florida... all of which now are MANDITORY mask order.
You cannot go in ANY establishment without a mask on.
That goes for everything from 7-Eleven to Sam's Club.
You will be fined... the business will be fined... 1st offense... I think is 250... second 500... third you loose your license to do business... and possible jail time.

That’s really odd. I’m a service tech and live near Detroit. I work with a crew of 20, we’ve been in businesses and residences (and assisted living complexes where we are required to be scanned and wear masks) since day one of this mess. None of us knows anyone sick, or that has died. Our company wants us to wear masks, sometimes we do, but rarely, and when asked. Hospital here has no more traffic than usual, city of 30k. I have also read reports that the mask does more harm than good.I just learned that a lady friend I had grown quite close to here is now on a ventilator after being hospitalized a little over a week ago. She does not have Covid, but due to Covid and the increasing numbers of hospitalized cases in New Mexico forcing hospitals to restrict entry, her family cannot see her or be with her as she lies dying. Unable to breath on her own, kidneys shut down, organs failing, she will not recover. Now her family has to make the hardest decision of their lives...to remove the ventilator that is keeping her breathing and let her go, alone and unattended by loved ones...or to prolong her suffering, keep her alive on the machine, in hopes this Covid crisis will soon pass and they will be allowed in to say goodbye.
I don't know which is worse, dying alone or knowing you are losing a loved one and not being able to comfort them or kiss them goodbye.
While this case is not Covid related, the ramifications very much are.
This damned virus is not "the equivalent of a bad cold". It's taking lives by the thousands, with no end in sight. 651 new deaths in the U.S. today alone. The death rate worldwide has jumped from 4% in April, to 11% today. Almost tripled. Hospitals are jammed with Covid infected patients, many at capacity. That in itself is horrifying, but when you add in the ripple effects like mentioned above it becomes almost inconceivable.
Maybe the ones who refuse to wear a mask need to think a little bit about dying cold and alone. Maybe not for themselves, since they're willing to take the risk obviously, but for their loved ones. How comforting will it be when YOUR loved one is locked away dying alone and uncomforted in some hospital because you or someone else were too selfish to wear a mask?
It's a mask you only need to wear in public, not a ball and chain strapped to your ankle 24/7. Such a minor inconvenience.
I simply cannot understand the degree of selfishness it requires to put those you love in harms way by refusing to wear one. When our actions can affect the health of others, we need to take personal responsibilty whether it's 'required' or not. I do, and wear one every time I go in public.
I can't help my friend, nor can I hold her hand and say goodbye. But maybe by wearing that mask I can prevent someone else from being in the same terrible position.
Stay safe folks, and best wishes for all of you.
Only 1/4 of the cases in the world are in the U S.
