That picture looks familiar..somehow. So don't be discouraged but be aware others might have tried to follow it before.

have not found any burried objects around the tree. I worked this site a few years ago, but im wondering if I might have missed something.

This is a very good point. Someone else had turtles leading them up a stream and even up the bank at the exit point. Can't remember who it was............maybe Oddrock or Twisted Fork? :icon_scratch:

if creek is that way look at area see if there is anything that looks like symbols inside turtle

Thanks for the replies. The tree sits about 10 ft. from the river. The turtle faces north and the arrows east and west. The top arrow points across the river. There is a hole drilled at the tip of the top arrow that dosent show up in the picture. The bottom arrow points up a small creek. Here are a couple more pictures of the tree.

Tinpan, just a guess on my part but you might try getting a clear plastic sheet and trace EVERYTHING off the tree and pull the plastic down until its flat on the ground, you may get a different idea about what its trying to tell you, both ways there should be a turtle with more info on them, Lots of those around on sides of rocks, why not trees, some folks call them maps.

something to consider since turtle has marked shell

Greetings Rangler and esteemed Trail-seekers,

I would love some help if you wouldn't mind please?
I have already posted this photo on Old Dog's thread, and thought I would try yours as well.
After following the directional face on my alpha monument, I came across this boulder with symbols inscribed upon it.
I have some questions if you folks would indulge me...

1. I see 3 markers , one pecked out to the left as well as a upper and lower sign, lightly scratched to the right. I am I missing anything else obvious here?

2. I remember you teaching about how a B is sometimes a #2 as well as potentially being a 13 pushed together to represent the letter M? ( Minerva, owl)?

3. Why is there a v on its side interjecting into the center of said letter? Different sign altogether perhaps?

4. How would I proceed farther along this trail?

If anyone could please make any suggestions, it would be appreciated.

Thank You, Sanguine

Did you notice what appears to be an arrow in the lower right portion of the rock? Appears to be pointing to the right and seems older than the more visible marks. :dontknow:
