Treasure Expo 2007

Don, you should contact Phips Folly from here on Tnet. He makes a living portraying Capt Jack Sparrow and he lives in the Vero Beach area. I bet he would be happy to attend.

Thanks.
I agree 100% the stated guidelines.
Now lets get down ro business
Peg Leg

Well Peg Leg, I have been checking back on this post when I get a chance. Really like reading your post anyway.
This is the best by far. Being that the Holiday Inn is a whopping 15 minutes from my home, maybe I can take the long haul out and put a face with the words of other tnet users. Everyone write you user name on your forehead. :)
This was a great idea and I am looking forward to the event. Now all I need to do is go back in the post to see all the details.
Not sure if I could help in any way, but keep me in mind.
Dale

gdaddy and Peg... thanks for thinking of me to portrait Captain Jack... unfortunately I will not be able to attend... i'll be out finding treasure while everyone else is at this event!!! Haha!! Best wishes for a fun and successful gathering!!

UPDATE:
There are 4 Breakout rooms available at the Holiday Inn BUT they will only hold about 30 people each. There rooms are separated by a block wall so they cannot be combined.
I have one room already reserved for showing Videos and giving a seminar. The cost is $100 per day per room. However the room time can be divided among others who wish to give a Seminar or just to talk about whatever they want to talk about.
EXAMPLE:
Treasure Hunting on the beaches.
This can be divided up into sessions.
Remember that you can expect 30 people per sessions so if you have 3 sessions you have 90 people.
Don't forget the doors open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 pm. If there is a SIMINAR every 3 hours x 4 x 30 =360 people. I expect that the Seminars to be about 60 minutes long.
EACH SPEAKER WILL HAVE THEIR NAME AND THE SUBJECT OF THE SEMINAR POSTED IN THE MAIN LOBBY AND UP ON THE UPPER DECK OVER LOOKING THE MAIN LOBBY.
There is also an Elevator available.

I must inform all those that want to be a Guest Speaker that whatever you want to charge you will have to provide your own people and pay 25% of what you receive to the Event Director. THERE WILL BE STAFF MEMBERS AVAILABLE TO HELP HANDLE THE SET UP AND TAKE DOWN AND TIPPING IS ACCEPTED.

Now I want to talk a moment about a person that I consider a friend with a long back ground in Treasure Hunting.
DELL WINDERS.
Dell is 73 years old and is not in the best of health but he has reserved the first room.
Dell has been involved with many Treasure Hunters including Mel Fisher. He was also involved in the search for NOAHS ARK and has photos and other documents to show it. He will also show several videos connected with Treasure Hunting.
DELL is a very large man and stands about 6'5" and weighs over 320 pounds.
YES he dowses but it is different type of dowsing and YES he makes an instrument that he uses in his work.
He is NOT going to give a sale pitch or even offer for sale his instrument.
He only plans to show how this device works and to answer questions and will show how you can make your own device.
Dell is not a SCAMMER or a CON MAN or trying to sell JUNK.
You will see what he is all about at the upcoming event.
Dell was also thinking about dressing up as BLACKBEARD-he has the custom BUT he said that it was very hot and during August it will maybe become to hot. He also have several RARE books that he will consider putting on the table.
For those FLAMERS I suggest that you kept your opinions to yourself and meet the man and then you can decide for yourself.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Peg Leg

I'am in. This would be a great educational tool for us newbees. Maybe cover some research methods for MDing, How to properly get permission to MD private property, etc, etc.

Is there anyone with a bronze swivel cannon that can bring it with them to the EVENT.
WE CANNOT HANDLE A REGULAR IRON CANNON???
But there is a double door on the south side of the first bottom room that will be used to transport any large items-in fact this is the entrance for bringing in anything-except for people ;D ;D ;D.

Lets talk a minute about GUEST SPEAKERS.
If someone will ask BOB MARX to be a guest speaker and to bring a few of his treasure items for display HE IS INVITED.
Also anyone that is interested in speaking is INVITED.
IF THEY WANT TO CHARGE THAT WILL BE UP TO THEM. ALL I WILL DO IS PROVIDE SOME HELP IN THE SETTING UP AND TAKING DOWN.
I will also provide a PLACKARD showing their name and time and where they will be speaking. This will be placed in the Main Lobby and on the Upper Floor

SECURITY:
Part of the Security will be provided by the HOILDAY INN and part will be provided by Off Duty Cocoa Beach Police. There will also be a few Brevard County Deputies (off duty).
I am also installing a few Video cameras in certain locations to record what goes on in and around the area.

I know that some of you are getting a little tired of seeing the HOLIDAY INN topic at the top of the page but until I fill up both rooms it MUST remain there.
SO if you want to display ANYTHING connected with Treasure let me know NOW because when the Big vendors decide they want it the space may be gone.
Thanks
Peg Leg

ATTENTION:
If anyone belongs to another TH forum can you post about the coming event in Aug.
Thanks

Good morning Peg...

You are the "organizer" of this show and you have taken on a tremendous amount of responsibility. It is no easy task and I take my hat off to you!! ;) Must have some big shoulders there...This whole "Treasure Expo" thing is a tremendous undertaking and success is never guaranteed. Only the feedback from the attendees will be the proof in the pudding, so to speak. Congratulations... you must have a big heart to go along with those shoulders.

I am a long time member of the bottle diggin forum, "Antique-Bottles.net" and I have announced your "treasure Expo" and the dates. That is why I asked you about tables, costs, displays, etc. Bottle diggers, divers, hunters and collectors think of their bottles and glass as "treasures" in and of themselves. With the prices on some of these collectable bottles reaching prices into the many thousands of dollars, you can see why we consider them as such. :)

I have put in a plug for your Expo, directed the interested parties to this forum and asked that they coordinate with you. If this turns out to be too much, please let me know. I'll do all I can to promote the Expo and help out in any way I can. I have names and numbers of people who organize our bottle shows here in Northern New England, maybe they can give me some pointers related to how to organize for this show that you have so graciously and unselfishly devoted your time. ;)

I look forward to meeting you and shaking your hand,
Most sincerely,

Wayne

Peg Leg, I have quite a few pictures of treasure hunting back in the 60s and 70s in British Honduras ( now Belize,) Surinam, Panama, French Guyana, Bahamas and Florida. Also lots of pictures of Sharks teeth and fossil diving, Black glass bottles, and indian artifacts. Plus I have lots of artifacts to display, if it is a safe place. I have some glass cases, but not enough. Steve.

Stevemc,
The display location will be very safe.
There are only 2 doors into the display room and are about 15 feet apart. There will be Security stationed between the doors.
There are no windows and the only way in or out of this display room is through one of the two doors.
There are also security cameras.

How much area does you diplay require?

Sounds GREAT to me.
Can't wait to see what you display.
Peg Leg
