Too Hot to Dig...

Thanks Old Dog and Rangler,

The extra clarification is helpful. While I have read most of the old threads the pictures and some of the posts are sometimes missing. Hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth!

Has anyone run into a similar set of carvings like this?

Cheez, oddrock, that photo #049 is a really serious Go-RILLA.

Shortstack,

......seriously there are a few other gorilla heads hanging around.

DANG!! Now that Go-RILLA turned into Billy Gibbons. :laughing7: :laughing7: :headbang:

Shortstack,

Sometimes, early in the morning...a little after sunrise....I have seen "Smoke on the Water" so you and Had may have let loose a secret! On the serious side (I think we still have one?) Here is a big gorilla "watcher".

That watcher in the right hand circle is pretty detailed and then there's a little bitty face looking in the same direction (that second circle).
Then, there's that big UGLY Go-Rilla who's looking at you taking that photo. :laughing7:

Shortstack,

You are right about that being ugly :laughing9:. This profile in yellow is a little neater done. Probably had a lot of pigment on it at an earlier date? Someone also seems to be missing an arm (in red) or maybe it is just the head that is missing. (meaning his head was severed?)

I changed your photo into a color negative and found an "eye". After more eval, I'm presenting to you one more idea. When I added just a little bit of additional line work (the red dashes) I think you'll see an entirely NEW possibility. Whatdoyathink? LOL

Shortstack,
:dontknow: :icon_scratch:......Well, I do have an elephant's trunk (by itself) a ways off....would not be easy to move and attach to your guy. I thought it might mean that I was getting close enough to "smell" what I was searching for.
Then again I am still studying the birds and the bees.....

Have you found they would be that obvious oddrock? I'm not sure myself.

I can see how that might look like a bear to someone..the left rock....but it does not look like the bears i have seen. The forehead/snout area is wrong. That curve of forehead/snout to me looks more like the sort of curves you would have at top of a heart...vaguely. Or the nice curve of wings. If wings..according to the books it would lead you back behind the boulder one way..the other way...the base of that right hand formation.

Anyway.. lets assume this is the spot (and my guess would be it is not..but may be near and remember this is just an...unproven uninformed speculation.)... then i notice the pink circles are a big little thing. The little circle perhaps a confirmation of that bigger shape ..similar in shape. The half circle at the bottom of the little circled shape is interesting..yes?

I would carefully checkout the carvings looking for death trap signs..dna helix shape especially and..maybe a star.......then look behind the boulder where that possible piece of pie lower right is pointing (not marked). Note the snout on the carved bear or dog (blue arrow big rock) seems to be deeply incised and jogs back to upper left. That looks like a possible directional to me.

This is mostly but not entirely all based on what is in the books.

So..just perhaps..the pie, the bird wings and the carved bear snout are saying..go behind.

And perhaps some of the other carving is an outline of the ridge or bluff or hills behind this formation.

Is that a shallow drill hole lower left arrow?

Ps..i suppose that smaller pink circle could be construed of as a bell too. Or an arrowhead...pointing up and back behind the formation. I half expect you to find a bell around this formation anyway. And a ...shaft or tunnel map of some sort.

Oddrock,
This is a Spanish sign.
It is an arrowhead, It means look up.

What is on the wall behind where you stand to view this sign?

Desertmoons,

I have found very few of the trail markers to look exactly like a true picture of what "they" are showing us. In this case I chose "bear" because of the small ears etc. The long nose to me says you have a ways to go. A bear finds it's food by sniffing around and turning over rocks, logs, etc. This tells me to look around here closely for the next S/S (s) I have found the big/little confirmation used on my trails also. (or sometimes just a corner of the rock in question cut off at an angle) The item in your small circle I take as an arrowhead or ace of spades pointer. There are a few shallow drill holes. Just above your lower right blue arrow is a sign that looks somewhat like an "all seeing eye".....sometimes like a "cat laying there" I do have a bell and a heart on this trail also.

There is more to see back there. The lower thing you marked I think is an arrowhead as Old Dog points out in the next post....then again just the lower part you marked may indicate a tunnel back there?
