Titan submersible, Titanic expedition

Really, all the back-room lawyers and want to be detectives should wait until the crew’s fate is known, before launching the types of statements made in some of these threads, if it was someone you knew trapped down there you’d feel disgusted by the lack of empathy and respect for human life shown here.
My mate has a girlfriend on the vessel thank god she did not go down in the sub she is safe, and that all she was allowed to say to him, the inside story will come out but show some feeling towards those people who are going through hell right now waiting on news of loved ones.
I am the person that started this thread. During all my posts I set out to deal with fact, detail and possibly provide some knowledge to other people on Treasurenet. I also asked a few questions hoping to increase my knowledge of some details which I received from Red-Coat. I also appreciate all the likes and phone calls from personal friends thanking me for all the research I did to obtain the information I posted. I went out of my way not to go YAP, YAP, YAP
At the bottom of my initial post I stated"Hoping for the best". You can call me anything you want, back room lawyer or want to be detective but one thing I am not is a person who doesn't want to increase my knowledge and just become a NEGATIVE person.

"the curse of the Titanic ? Opens Friday at a Theatre near You !"
I won't dare guess who the cast would be. this isn't politics :(

Yea Personally I think the Pressure Killed them.
I Don't personally think it was Instantaneous.
I think severe Headaches , Ears Ringing/bleeding , Body organ Failure,
then Umph ! (for lack of a better word) the ship imploded Like crushing a 1 Pint Milk box with your hand. Only difference the Sub Shattered.

Lying & Saying they didn't suffer is Necessary on TV.
Sorry ! at my age, I Speak my Mind
It was instantaneous.

The trip to Titanic takes about 2 hours and contact with submersible was lost 1:45" after dive started so they were at Titantic when accident happen.

At the depth the Titanic rests, there is around 5,600 pounds per square inch of pressure – several hundred times the pressure we experience on the surface.

The entire thing would have collapsed before the individuals inside would even realize that there was a problem.

An implosion at that depth would be instantaneous, implosion happens in about 1 millisecond and it is violent, on average it takes about 25 milliseconds for the human mind to acknowledge an event, the submersible's walls crashing in at 2200 feet per second.

Your posts are the type I enjoy reading. They have a lot of DETAIL and help everybody here on Treasure net learn something.

Yeah i agree... TreasureHunter posts like he has posted before.... err or at least once or twice.

:P

:)

In 2021 & 2022 Titan took civilian passengers on at least 2 successful dives to the Titanic so it's not like the victims hopped on a totally untested craft.

RIP
No... they jumped on a craft that just got lucky before that.

It doesn't diminish the tragedy of it all, but as death goes this has got to be one of the better ways to check out. You are literally dead before you know it. There are a lot of ways to die in the water, and every one of them but this would perfectly fit in the "Worst case scenario" category.

condolences to the families and friends of the adventurous an brave loved ones you have lost

I went looking to see if Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution WHOI were involved in the search since
they are close by as the crow fly's & they have Alvin a HOV Human Occupied Vehicle, thats been to the
Titanic a couple of times. I couldn't find that info, maybe in a press release later. did find some
interesting info @ WHOI. for some reason I can't load imgs, links to graphics & imgs.

interesting about electricity & titanium
Keeping the “Big O” Out of Alvin

pg with click on graphics, how deep, types of Vehicles, pressure at depths

oceangate site is down, went to wayback, not a lot of detail on titan construction

Titans carbon fiber hull was 5 inches thick.

All I can say for a FACT is that it was disgusting to see the media promoting this story with an oxygen countdown clock (death clock). Confirms what we all know about this business.

For anyone that bought into this disturbing “reality TV” drama - shame on you!

No harm no foul discussing technical aspects, of the tragedy, but a death countdown clock is just disturbing.

Interesting technical article on "BBC.com"
Heading "Titanic sub implosion: What we know about catastrophic event"
Then part of the article heading "What happens in an implosion"
I suggest magoopeter not read this article.

I find it ironic that 5 people die on the Ttan submersable and there is round-the-clock news coverage yet just last week 700 migrants died when their boat sank off the oast of Greece and just one news article. How sad.

That's because there was no ongoing story with the migrant boat. It sank, people died and it was just another boat mishap. The submersible was a new kind of craft, and there was speculation about finding the people alive. Serious suspense. That's exactly the kind of stories news joints want to cover. It the difference between 5 people dying in a car crash as opposed to 3 people dying in a private rocket launch. The car crash will get local or regional coverage. The rocket gets international coverage.

It was instantaneous.
what makes me wonder the most is, I think the Experts
would not want to be dragged into court if they said
They Suffered Greatly . & You know the Lawyers are Circling, since they would get the majority of any Settlement or win
against the people who built the contraption .

no I am not Arguing, even though it may seem that way.
Just Saying :coffee2:

What makes me wonder the most is.....why this incredible obsession with the titanic?? Okay I know all the facts, and history, and yes...like they say....I've seen the movie !! Its one of the most documented and mapped wrecks ever !! I can remember years back looking at a detailed photo mosaic in national geographic. I see capitalization of a tragic disaster, and in an industry that classifies wrecks as off limits because they are grave sites, and war memorials..... then why is it ok to monetize this particular wreck ?? Why so many exceptions and rule bending in the industry for the titanic ?? People have been picking at this grave site like buzzards for years, and I know there is much to be learned from observing the wreck and the process of degradation and deterioration. I just don't understand the obsession with the titanic ?? There is an ocean full of other more easily reached and far more interesting shipwrecks that are screaming for attention. 250000$ a pop would go real far in driving exploration forward on many other underwater projects !! I mean.....was there any other reason they were doing this besides fleecing billionaires to line there pockets ? Was there some research based goal they were working towards ? Or was it just a macabe joyride to the site of a tragedy. Now if you said were gonna build a custom deep water sub to salvage the San Jose, and you said you can ride along for a salvage dive for 250000$......well that would peak my interest !! And would merit the effort and risk !!

I agree... so what... I cannot fathom why anyone would continue to be interested anymore.
The story has almost spun into boring at this point.
Furthermore...
Why on earth anyone would think its cool to dive in a sub to it is beyond me... hardly worth the risks.
Like climbing Mt. Everest.... WHY ? ? ?

I guess its that egotistical urge.... or self doubt needing to be proven into self worth.

And what those who do these things fail to realize is.... NO ONE ELSE really cares. heh

We may all say "Oh wow thats crazy... thats cool".... but really we are thinking..."what an idiot".

A selfie with the bow of the titanic through the view port ?
