This woman lived under hitlers rule

I've heard nothing like that. Where's that?

So, how long are you going to pretend that the things you see are not really there?

Did you miss the entire 2008 and 2012 election seasons - as well as all the days in between?

According to What's his name, all the peoples' woes are because the people who actually work to earn their big incomes don't like giving it to the people who refuse to work.

According to What's his name, the reason the congress is deadlocked is because the Republicans won't roll over and play dead by "compromising". Of course, his version of compromise is: "I said it, you back it without question."

What would it take for you to see that compromise doesn't work that way? BOTH side have to give a little. The republicans compromised on raising taxes, then What's his name refused to keep his promise to cut the budget. He still hasn't produced a single budget in his time at the Whitehouse.

What is it going to take to open your eyes?

I do know the answer, but alas, by the time it gets that bad it will already be too late for us all.

Having a health system that only gives help to those that can afford it is no better than the English Class System which you fought a Revolutionary War to get equal rights for all men. Basic health is a necessity for all humans and guns are not. . Guns don,t fix economic ,social, and health problems . So i have gun ownership under gun control laws, affordable health insurance , economic stablitily and my child is safe at school. Well what can i say >

This shows a terrific lack of knowledge by tinpan. No one goes without health care in this country,, You obviously are not from the US or you would have known that.
It is ok,, but try to stay out of encompassing statements that spew your viewpoint when absolutely wrong?

But nobody sees the problem with a system where you have to have insurance to get help and NOT become a debt slave for the rest of your life...??

Ahhh,, You also must not have learned the system yet? What country are you from? Don't worry, our umbrella would cover you too, if we weren't plunged into bankruptcy by your way of thinking.

By the way,, Welcome to Tnet?

That's a Norwegian flag Dave. Oslo is the capital of Norway. Wild guess he's a Norwegian or an ex-pat yank.

I know.. the best clue was Oslo. I just found it funny that he subscribed to a fallacy of opinion about the US, because of our media from a half a world away. But it helps to make a point, I think.

Yeah, so what's wrong with his assertion?

"But nobody sees the problem with a system where you have to have insurance to get help and NOT become a debt slave for the rest of your life...??"

One uninsured trip to the hospital can result in medical bankruptcy. And may not ever help you medically.

The present system DOES NOT work for the patients. They are the last consideration, even if they can and do pay.

Thank you for YOUR opinion. You are right that this is a political game of Chicken. And BS, as usual.

For starters, where have the Republicans "compromised on raising taxes"? There is $200 Billion a year alone in lost revenue hidden in offshore banking "shelters". $40 billion a year of that is lost from cash-strapped state governments.

Don't see that on their proposal list.

What's your position on that? Let's start talking.

National Debt has increased more under Obama than under Bush - Political Hotsheet - CBS News
No matter what occurred I would think a sane person would try to spend less than they make. I know this makes no sense to some, but even the government will run into the wall one day.

At the current burn rate your"take all the money from everyone who makes more than you" attitude will not help.
But you can talk about it if you want. By the way, this is an old story, Our new debt is over 16 trillion.

Isn't this simple Keynesian economics? What you you recommend when you are a country in recession?

Is simple Keynesian economics the best model for us Stocky?

When a country is in recession / depression - yes absolutely. Don't you agree?

Why would I agree Stocky, are you saying in all of your expert economic knowledge that is the only recourse?

Actually I am an economics / history double major so I wouldn't call it expert but well above average. Not sure where I said the "only recourse". I said I would be MY choice of policy. If you don't agree would would you recommend for monetary and fiscal policy during a recession?

In that case stocky I believe your education overcame your knowledge.

If you would like to offer a counterpoint please do. I love to discuss economic theory with people. You seem to have a lot of interest in all sorts of different economic systems such as capitalism, socialism, communism etc. I find those topics fascinating.

Apparently you missed the election period as well. What's his name made a deal with the Republicans to curb spending if they 1) raised the deficit and 2) increased taxes "on the wealthiest Americans".

Obama, Senate Republicans reach agreement on ?fiscal cliff? - Washington Post

The Senate approved a bipartisan agreement early Tuesday morning to let income taxes rise sharply for the first time in two decades, fulfilling President Obama’s promise to raise taxes on the rich and avoiding the worst effects of the “fiscal cliff.” The agreement, brokered by Vice President Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), passed 89 to 8 in a highly unusual New Year’s morning vote. It now heads to the House, where leaders have not guaranteed passage but top officials believe it could win passage in the next few days.

White House celebrates end of GOP allegiance to tax pledge | The Daily Caller

White House officials spent the witching hour on New Year’s morning insisting to reporters that Democrats had broken the backs of Republicans by forcing them to violate their tax pledge and support a deal to resolve the “fiscal cliff.”

That deal — which cleared the Senate early Tuesday and awaits possible passage today in the House — would result in a permanent extension of the Bush-era income tax rates for those making under $400,000 individually, or $450,000 jointly.

Before the deal was even struck, President Obama used a Monday afternoon campaign-style event to frame Republicans as vulnerable in their dedication to lower taxes. “Keep in mind that just last month Republicans in Congress said they would never agree to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans,” Obama said. “Obviously the agreement that’s currently being discussed would raise those rates and raise them permanently.”
That statement was only the first in a series of White House dispatches claiming that Republicans had given up on their longtime allegiance to a Grover Norquist-managed pledge not to raise taxes.

A White House source told Fox News’s Ed Henry overnight that “Obama broke [the Republicans'] tax pledge,” making the Joe Biden-negotiated deal “[one] of the most consequential policy achievements of the last couple decades.”

Then, just like Lucy does to Charlie Brown, What's his name jerked away his campaign promise to cut spending in exchange for the increased taxes.

Of course, you folks wouldn't remember anything like the above quotes because the Republicans can still draw a breath.

You haven't answered my question. What's your position on offshore tax cheats?

As to your links, we'll see if it actually happens. Real action should have happened years ago; inaction and BS have hurt the fragile economy, to our detriment.
