I've read many hundreds of books on WW2, talked to actual survivors and soldiers of all sides, and had (and have now) relatives living in Berlin, where the worst street fighting took place. With guns, fists, clubs, automatic weapons, and whatever else was around. It was inevitably bitter. They hated each other.

Without that hatred, the Nazis wouldn't have ever had enough members to come to power. Hate is a powerful motivator, like fear.

Like hating your fellow citizens and calling them zombies, and fearing government.

Kinda like the hate What's his name is fostering against the wealthy? Maybe like the hate What's his name is fostering against the conservatives? Kinda like the hate being promoted against the constitution?

Yes, well then, we're well on our way unless something changes.

Or did the Nazis use that hatred to get themselves to power...as we are currently using the war with Islam. Now we have the Dept. of Homeland Security, which arose from the fear of terrorism, and they are buying huge amounts of arms and ammunition. We assume, if we believe in a benign government, it's to fight off the Islamic invaders, of which there are about 50. No doubt we need a few billion rounds of ammo to handle them. Of course, it could be the government knows the really bad, unofficial version of the current economic mess, and fears an uprising of resistance by the citizenry, and is preparing for that. If I were a betting man, you can guess where I'd put my money.

Now with a few word changes this could be our school system.
Today our Gov. told the school lunch program they will not be reimbursed unless there is nutritional food put on every plate served. The kids call it fruit basketball.(meaning who can hit the garbage can with the apple) Also it is against there policy for you to give your friends what you don't want.
Would be nice to see one of our Gov. program work.

Really, "Saalschlacht" means "Battlehall" 4th November 1921 Munich . They didn,t serve soup only hate through propaganda . That was before the start of the Great Depression.

They gained significant support from the unemployed through a combination of support - soup kitchens, hostels, etc - and the promise of employment through rearmament in direct conflict with the treaty. Support was garnered by the upper classes through their racist rhetoric, violent opposition to communism and the promise of rearmament.

I did my History thesis on prewar nazi germany so know the history very well. As I was also an Econ major the focus of the thesis was the economic drivers behind the rise of the nazis. its fascinating history.

Completely agree that many Germans openly embraced the nazi party as the Italians did Mussolini and as in the United States we allowed massive powers to FDR. Completely agree with you that many many German citizens should have been held responsible. Not given them a free pass at all.
