Yesterday the Pileated woodpecker landed on the pine tree, across the driveway.Good morning everyone.
The wild turkey flock has picked up on the deer corn and now they come running when I rattle the bowl. It’s hilarious seeing a flock of turkeys running across the yard toward you. I’ll try to get video some morning but they are camera shy.
One has been favoring the front yard feeding station of varied feeders suet. Countering of course the reason a strictly suet feeder is out back .Yesterday the Pileated woodpecker landed on the pine tree, across the driveway.
The phone didn't produce the best photo.
Went and got the P1000 and went to get a good photo.
It looked at me, and went to the backside of the tree.
Ah, I thought, you want to play that game.
I waited, a few minutes later it peeked around the trunk. Came into view again, great pose.
I focused in, .....the battery expired.🤣
It flew to another bunch of trees laughing as it flew.

I have some testing to do, also some arrow cutting. I like the aluminum arrows the best but different fletching, carbon fiber or not... I am going to try indoor testing, shoot from the shop since we have god awful rain and wind, storms from hell!
One just can't imagine till they ride in another's shoes.
In 15 yrs of feeding our feathered friends I have yet to see the Pileated feed at the feeder. One has been favoring the front yard feeding station of varied feeders suet. Countering of course the reason a strictly suet feeder is out back .
I'm not a shooter, so I had to look up what a Port Orford shaft was.Well done...
Is that a couple of XX75's, or Gamegetters mixed in with that fancy carbon?
Being a trad shooter, I shoot mostly Port Orford cedar shafts. I start with bare, doweled shafts and then cut to length, paint/stain, fletch and crest myself. Haven't made any in ages, but always enjoy making my own stuff..View attachment 2185807
