Leaving tomorrow at 2:30, but before that I'm going to be bidding on something that has me a nervous wreck. A M/42 cKL 62 stamped Stalhelm, with original liner, chinstrap, and split pins. The only problem is a small smattering of postwar paint applied to the shell, but this should come off easily with patience and acetone soaked cotton balls. Original paint seems intact, and it looks like Apple Green paint from the pictures. Starting bid is $185. My limit is $250, so I doubt I'll win, but we'll see. It even has a hand painted (original to the helmet) number "77" on the inside below the liner, most likely from the 77th infantry division, German Wehrmacht. The 77th was ordered to defend occupied Normandy from the Allies, though obviously we know who won that battle. This makes sense because a large number of M/42s were distributed through the ranks of the Western Front in early 1944.
