jim,

I just learned something.....I'm wondering though if the residue of the cornmeal would prevent sprouting on future direct seeded vegetables.

Just in case I'll stick with the mulch option.

Barley as a cover crop suppresses weeds... Other cover crops can too just by shading if started early enough , but barley has a chemical or something involved.

As a kid , bone meal was scattered around to reduce critters interests. Not sure what evidence that was based on.

I'd have to experiment with cornmeal but suspect it would attract mice , birds, squirrels, chipmunks and who knows what other rodents , including rabbits...
The bird feeders here seem to attract far more than birds to the spills. And it's fairly fine stuff hitting the ground.

Thanks bill for the Zeppelin. I remember my younger days listening to them.

Since most of us are spending more time around the home front. If you're adventurous here's an article on sourdough if you want to give it a shot.

There are some things I'd love to give a shot these days....sourdough ain't one of them though.:BangHead:

I've spent so much time at home I've twiddled half of my thumbs away! :sad11:

Morning pepper.
