8 chickens 4 or 5 lay.
3 on food stamps
Our big old fluffy butt that's 4 yrs old started to lay again after a 1.5 yrs of not.

We have several older chickens that don't lay. If times get tough, we could always have chicken soup, but until then, I figure they've earned their retirement. We enjoy seeing them clucking and pecking around the yard.
