Way above the K in Milwaukee in a straight line towards the last O in Ontario , across the last pink (inland lake water) is a Jesuit mission site. Not sure if the structure is original.
Never did check it out.
Brought a detector on another trip as there are more old sites about , but left it in the truck.
With age I'm more content to leave things where they are when the host country would have them left.

Somewhere is a picture of a young me &co. extracting a large boom chain from an old logs end on a shoreline.
Comprised of different kind of rings from those of the Jesuits. But I value then no less.

Did see some interesting relics not that far from there. Didn't think to or ask permission to photograph them.
What I call rocker style knives. And some socketed knives. Bracelets or arm bands.
And beads ect..
Dark but likely copper many of them. Socketed knives while rough looked forged as if iron..

Sent a Canadian detectorist pen pal and coin ect. swap guy my notes on old sights there. Never heard back if he visited any he wasn't familier with. (?)

Oh wait , the weather?
Temps for daytime highs are going to thaw a day or two then freeze good again. Then maybe another very brief thaw..Then freeze hard.
It would be great to recover a few pieces of Copper Culture (6000 yrs old)
They mostly abandoned copper implements about 3000 yrs ago.
Heck a newer piece would be awesome still.
There are folks finding pieces (Spearhead) even down around my parts.
Ah to dream of a what might become a reality.

I likely won't return for another visit but the area has much I haven't seen.
Most my time during daylight over the years was fishing.
Ice during break up in spring is like a dozer when pushed by current and or wind.
Shorelines usually look ancient unless near current human activities.
The palisades are humbling. Greenstone region, Redstone.. All white in winter mostly.

Ha.

Pareidolia. Granted me an eagle shaped stone last visit. Too crude to be native.
From the site of a drilled split antler tine. Too new to be old.
Which is fine.

No copper artifacts yet but I did find a piece of “float” copper. It was found on a gravel bar in the Sangamon River in Macon County IL during the drought summer of ‘85. It’s not green because it’s always been in the river.

I see a little green appearing on the edge.
Something like my gills.
Nice piece of float.

Good afternoon all xx ‘‘tis a bit wild here today… 55mph winds 🤨… so went out early to do shopping chores and order Christmas bits from the butcher. Then back to hunker down. Himself popped over so we got our, well mostly my, hammereds out… Nov 2023 we had 66 little silver beauties…. This year we have ……133 😎…. That’s is pretty epic isn’t it!

So will sort out a few (co incidentally the un Identified ones 😁) and pop them off to the FLO next week! More hectic wind here tomoz so won’t feel so bad about missing another day to visit our friends! 😊 xx

I've owned 4 of them over the years. Great bike, especially for two up riding. They'll go anywhere, very little maintenance, and even handle freeway speeds without trouble.
I hope! last bike I looked at sold before I looked at it!! :BangHead: (KTM adventure 640)
I want a street legal enduro type bike for gold mine exploration/horticulture/hunting endeavors. Also to scout for acreage with trees I can mill for home building..... Probably won't haul the trees with the bike! :laughing7: With over 2 million acres in my backyard off road capability is needed. My older bikes are...well... older! XR500 and a KX500, not street legal and the KX is for killing you!:laughing7:
I posted the forest links below since I was called out that "they arn't that big before.:dontknow:

Hi. So himself isn't your husband, he's your hunting partner?

Ha! God lord, no! He is not my husband…( but only because he refuses to marry me 😄) long story but we lived together for about 7 years, then were apart for about 10 years… I moved back in 2020 and we’ve been together ever since. But we don’t live together as both too old and stubborn 😄 it is honestly perfect tho! xx
