Don't know any more about it though.
Hints from the article has it 1977 or earlier.
For all the variety , it mentions Victorian as one popular motif.

It'll only be upper (?) eighties and high humidity here today.
Tomorrow several or more degrees cooler for a high. Humidity should go down.
I'm hoping for a rain shower today for the rye. We keep getting near a week of no rain in between events. Probably only because I planted ...
After today chances of rain are nill for another stretch.
No biggie. Plenty of things to do outside!

Beats me as to why the design is what it is.
Could they have farmed out some production and allowed creative license in designs?
If we knew more about the varied touchmarks , they could indicate time periods or different build sites? Model lines? Designer portfolios?

Well I always look down the road for what I might have a hankering for.
Some see a terrible mess, and some see a little pile of $$$.
I am going to try for the detector.
