Related story. I bought a book on collectibles at a yard sale in Alabama several years back. Did not remember exactly where. Was looking through it a bit later and found an autograph from Hank Aaron to the name of a boy/man. I also found one of those magazine advertisements where you send off for some toy that boys want. Forget what the details were, but it had a name for a boy and an address. This was before all the google search ability so it took me some digging and calling but finally found where he last lived and a phone number. I imagined how thrilled he would be to get his autograph back.
I called the number and explained why I was calling and that I was looking for the person with name on autograph. The woman that answered did not even let me finish all the way before she said he did not live there now, she had no idea where he was, and could care less about him or where he was, and hung up. I still have the autograph.
