Yttrium replaced thorium in many lantern mantle manufacturers lines.
Not quite as bright per reviews , my own included.

Exposure during use after initial firing was (per certain study) far less than background radiation level.
But , and it's a big but ; the manufacturing and process created contamination elsewhere. So Yttrium to the rescue. For now.
There are still manufacturers elsewhere using thorium.
 

Yesterday I found two very rare Schuylkill County PA milk bottles! Reichweins Dairy of Fountain Springs was a small, short lived dairy. Bottles from this dairy, or any bottle from Fountain Springs really, are always super rare. The one bottle has a small hole in the back, and the other has a ding in the front, but they will both display well.
