Roger, We used forced air electric luckily in Quebec because of all our hydro electric dams we probably have the cheapest rates in North America. We sell our surplus to the Northeast U.S. states.
Bill there's a call for Quebecers to turn the heat down, limit the use of hot water.
Ya had the biggest usage of power in a single day in history."
An extreme cold warning has been in effect across southern Quebec since Friday morning, straining the system as Quebecers juggle staying warm and working from home.

Hydro Québec recorded consumption levels reaching 40,300 megawatts as of 8 a.m. Friday, breaking a previous record of 39,000 MW that was broken during another cold snap on Jan 11.
The province can import electricity from other regions if Quebec's system reaches its limits,

They say actually the problem arrives in having a lot of homes going off fossil fuels, like all the new builds.
So now it has strained the grid to nearly reaching capacity.
Now with the big push for electric powered vehicles and fully implemented by 2030.
I wonder how the brains will power all this.
Who would of ever thought the winters were going to be cold, everyone home, and using power.:laughing7:

:BangHead:
Everyone is home? What's going on?

Jim, There's some less costly ways of generating hydro electric power and much simpler. Just simple units along a stream will do it I'll have to check for a video but very efficient and less disruptive.
Here you go. imagine how many could be installed along a fast running river to produce cheap energy without massive dams.

Bill, is the forced air heating like the manufactured homes use? A floor vent in every room. They put out a serious amount of heat! Air conditioning can be incorporated in to the system also.
OV, Yep the ductwork was installed at construction time circa 1950 and we have a central air hooked up to it for summer use. Keeps us both warm and cool depending on the season.

Same here if we're good sheep they'll start lifting the restrictions Feb 1st.
Then if all goes well more in March.

Same here Bill tho not as big as yours its 10 miles from home and carries enough juice for the area. This dam throws the water back into the lake to be recycled over & over https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith_Mountain_Dam

The best all around EVEN HEAT I've ever seen is radiant heat ( thru hot water tubing in the floor).especially a tile floor !:) A Hot air system is either hot when its on, or cold when its off. That big mansion I posted a few days ago has a Radiant heat system IN the floor(copper tubing encased in 12" of cement)....Heat rises ...
