Morning RR
Not a great way of ending/starting the year off/
You have the age in your favour and should be a bonus.
Best of luck on the recovery
How's the rest of the family doing?
Lots to consider there, ain't it?Lots of questions. And lots of possibilities.
I'll speculate foolishly on the cornfield. Cause that's the kind of thing I'd do.
Who owned it how long and did they shoot?
Hunt or target or both?
My highest bullet counts come from sites that stop bullets. Deliberate bank as a backstop for exaple.
My road fill has bullets in it. From wherever the material came from. A gravel pit maybe?
A landowner may be tidy by nature. Or extra cautious about shooting. If the field has no backstop , shooting could have (if shooting occurred) elsewhere.
Too , some folks used birdshot vs bullets for fowl. Settled areas could have had little game at one time except small game and again birdshot.
Prior to more modern game laws , big game was simply meat to many folks.
Clad in the corn , may be from tractor operators.
I agree coins had more value the earlier we go. But still couldn't be lost much where people don't go.
A tractor (and equipment) operator might not be in the field a lot. But is repeatedly. That adds up. But how old is the fields being worked?
Fifty years for sure detectorists have been active.
Time and time and time again I have come up with a site , to find someone I know hit it years ago. Who else did?
A visitor from out of state and myself detecting speculated on how many of what sized buckets of coin came out of an 1800's to current times park we were in. And what the early detecting days must have been like....
I've been told of guys just hunting anywhere. Permissions of little concern.
And of some clever ones hunting most anywhere by presenting themselves as needing to be there.
Your fields history can be either unmolested (Un trafficked upon by silver /old coin and gun bearing humans) till recent times , or was used by frugal (coin guarding keep em home you don't need them behind the mule) occupants.
Did you get vaccinated? That's the odd thing. Nobody went anywhere for a week before Christmas, and after. No family came over, nothing. It was almost as it had spontaneously formed inside of me. My family is walking around my couch corpse and they aren't getting sick. It's weird.
Open air and snow blowing equipment =snow face. Brrrrr....Plowed the road and part of a couple driveways. (Remember folks , park on a driveway , but drive on a parkway..)
Tried out the blower on the newest tractor on three driveways.
Need to mind the breeze direction better. Brrr.
And retrieve my full face helmet out of the basement.

Like I said,no biggie.Your reasons are your own and good enough for me any day.All the teams I gave examples of are college teams,Now if you hear somebody say ROLL TIDE,you,ll know what,s going on.I,m not a big fan of pro sports either,I,ll watch if nothing else is on.I can't justify the $$$ that is thrown out for it to all work.
I guess it's a big boys playing field to operate a team.
Use to know the former owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Not a bad egg really, use to have some great chats in his office.
(While the "boot lickers" use to sit on the oak pew benches outside his office door) Steve called them that.
