The sun is a coming... and the rain is clearing.

And treasures await those who seek them.

Seize the day and get outside :)

BBL.

Must be nice, still dark, -9C, ceiling of 700m, cloudy, going to snow a tad, not going to see any plus temps in the next 2 weeks still.......
Oh ya the ground has over a foot of snow.........I hope you get sand between your toes then sir-and find a wee bit of treasure while your at it.

Did you know of any dates on the cobbs?

I was thinking the same as BL and WD, I see you found out about them. I can't say I'd be comfortable under water with contacts. It's not like you can adjust hem easily if something jars them out of place.

What was the bait of choice today for those mutton snapper BB?

I lost an argument with myself tonight going through the grocery store and enjoyed the hell out of the results!!!! Yum.
The cobbs found on Elliott key had dates that were no older than 1680. We use alot of ballyhoo pete....we catch them live every morning.

Im tired of relic hunting....I want some gold/silver.

Morning Bart

It all depends on the relics, some gets the blood flowing, some just don't cut the mustard.

Been so long since I dug a piece of gold-well I can't remember...

Well pepper....its just a matter of changing up your methods here in Florida. If you want gold you go to the public beaches....and if your smart enough to know your history you can have a double whammy beach....a spot where old spanish treasure can be found or a fresh dropped piece of gold jewelry !! I almost always get some fresh jewelry when I go to the 1715 beaches lots of retired billionaires dropping gold on the treasure coast.

Top of the morning bill !!

Good morning one and all. Wish I could do something to send some temperature relief to my friends in the frozen north. Haven't had to deal with them in decades. It was the lack of daily sunshine that usually got to me, not the cold so much.

A pearl of an idea! :tongue3:
Thought a small "black eyed pea" shaped one rolled out as I opened them but it was only a tiny mussel.

Those were some pretty nice dates and definitely adds reference for a historical context. Since most pirates didn't have long careers that might help differentiate which Black Caesar this ring is associated with. From the link you provided seems to indicate there may have been more than one. If I remember correctly historical accounts mention him over the span of almost 100 years?

Have you ever had much success with cigar minnows for snapper?

I see others find jewelry around here but not with my AT Max yet, excluding a little silver ring on Sanibel in 2019.

Pete,

You mention Sanibel if memory serves me correctly that's around Ft Myers isn't it? I spent several winter vacations
Naples did you ever try the beaches there?

Quite a few well heeled types have homes in the area.

Pete that island has seen its share of pirates, wreckers, shipwreck survivors, settlers, and plantation owners. The history is thick with thousands of shipwrecks in the surrounding waters. Other hordes of coins are rumored....I don't doubt that some of those stories are true. At least 2 galleons are wrecked close by that I know...one of the 1733 wrecks "el populo", and "la neuava victoriosa" 1771....I think. Ill post a pic of where I spear fish. I've seen some great reefs all over the carribean...but nothing compares to the reefs around ceasers creek....it is a jumbled area of reefs with wrecks piled ontop of wrecks !!

Screenshot_20210205-220735_Earth.jpg this is the area in front of ceasers creek....its an incredible reef system. So many wrecks here !!

Well were both on the same thought pattern it seems Bart at the same time.

"I don't doubt that some of those stories are true."

"How
history gets skewed"

Should be a new forum section.

Its all about the books, or reality TV...believe me I know after all last years TV drama for me....staying true to ones own principle while still being successful is the trick...but screwing up the history for everyone else in the name of profit and self promotion is a sin !!

Oh the reality TV shows has made the armed the armchair popcorn eaters fantasies all too well.
Quote from a fellow that starred on one of the digging shows. "I carried that F'ing cannonball around all day-they buried it, shot a scene-dug it up-buried the :censored:thing again":BangHead:

Well I'm planning my own damn adventures cause thats part of my job....were gonna go back to keywest in 2 weeks, and this time were bringing the 112 foot yacht and anchoring out. I will stay on board the 43 foot tiara sportfish. We will be a mothership and adventure boat operation, and avoid the keywest tourist trap. Ill have 2 eqx 600s, and 1 excal 2. If I have a say in anchoring I will put us in an opertune spot for my own hunting adventures should the opportunity arise. Many times I will take guests beach combing and treasure hunting. I function as a pilot on board when in the keys and bahamas. Keywest is like a second home for me and I know the waters well. I always try to put the fleet in the best position for adventure, fishing, diving/snorkeling, and close enough to dingy into key west for provisions.Screenshot_20200403-104616_Maps.jpg
I don't even tell anyone there is a major killer wreck within a quarter mile from us until its time to reveal it and see who wants to explore it !! Wooo hooo. Then its on to long Island, samana island, and harbor island bahamas !! Getting this season going right !! Opportunity abounds for treasure hunting with my job....and if I'm lucky I can get paid to take guests treasure hunting and find treasure at the same time !! Its not all fun and games and alot of hard work and planning go into these missions....but sometimes its the greatest job on the planet !! Woooo hoooo !!
