Morning there bill and bart

Have dug (as well as Dave) a few Royal Sapper buttons over the years in the area. They worked on the building the Rideau Canal which was constructed originally to have an inner water canal other than the St. Lawerence River that divides the border.
The Sappers Cemetery isn't too far away and have driven by it many times.

I had to look up "Sapper." I never heard it before, not even when I was in the military.

A sapper, also called pioneer or combat engineer, is a combatant or soldier who performs a variety of military engineering duties such as breaching fortifications, demolitions, bridge-building, laying or clearing minefields, preparing field defenses, as well as working on road and airfield construction and repair. They are also trained to serve as infantry personnel in defensive and offensive operations. A sapper's duties are devoted to tasks involving facilitating movement, defence and survival of allied forces and impeding those of enemies. The term "sapper" is used in the British Army and Commonwealth nations, the Polish Army and the U.S. military. The word "sapper" comes from the French word sapeur, itself being derived from the verb saper (to undermine, to dig under a wall or building to cause its collapse).

So, a funny story for some, but I have rook in mind:

Yesterday I had to take my 7 yr old grandson and his mommy to the DR. He had a cough and the school insisted that he get checked. IDK if any of you has had the pleasure of getting that swab stuck up your nose to touch your brain, but it is no picnic. He came out to the car and was crying. Mommy said he was mad at her for them doing that. I promptly turned around and sweetly told him that it wasn't mommy's fault, my fault, his fault, or even the DR's fault. It was China's fault. LOL Well, MR WD thought it was funny.

Reminds me of a time, sitting in the back seat of my dad's 51 Chevy. He happened to slam on the brakes at a worst time for me. I had my 10 year old finger digging for gold. When I came to, he asked if I was ok. I whimpered, "I think I touched my brain!" :censored:

Why are white things falling from the sky and turning the world white.
