Dave,

Just a guess on the age of the signet ring but I'd venture to say art deco period. Which would be 1920's/1940's era.

Not a bad guess....lol. I looked up art deco rings after the post and here's a link with examples.

That's so cool Bill, I had no idea it might be that old. :hello2:

The decoration was a bit of a mystery to me. :icon_scratch:
But you're right, it's very square in design and does look to be late-Deco Period in style.

I went over the local wrecking yard the other day and got myself an insulated milk tank which I'll repurpose for sap collection.
I'll decide if I'll get it spray foamed (encased) or just use rigid SM board to insulate it more.
Sap is like a container of milk left on the counter-it only lasts a few days and it starts to go ropey, sour, fermentation starts.

The other item was a really slightly used 18.4x30 tractor tire so I just need to find another and then I'll have good rubber on the big tractor.:headbang:

Well, that was short lived, now wasn't it? Sorry. I fell back asleep. :tongue3:

Good morning, ARC (again), AntiQ, Bill, Rook, Pepper, Rusty.

That's a great looking stainless steel milk tank Jim.
The tractor tire looks almost brand new too.

Good morning again... WD. :hello: :laughing7:

I’ll bet WD’s got a yard sale to go to. On that note we’ve had a ton on estate sales lately. That kinda means one thing. DEATH. But I don’t go to um cause you can get the stuff cheaper at Walmart.

Not on a Wednesday. Our sales run from Thursday - Sunday, but mostly on Thursday. Flea markets on Saturday and Sunday. I remember going on vacation in Kentucky one year. It was a Tuesday and we were looking for something to do. It was suggested that we go to the big flea market. I shockingly asked, "On a Tuesday?" Funny how different things are in different parts.

I'm thinking the reason they hold the market on a Tuesday is not to mess up the weekend party time.:dontknow:

I’m meeting with another detectorist this morning to do a trade. He’s a relative ‘newbie’ to detecting and contacted me through another detecting forum last year looking for advice. This spring he found a beautiful silver and gold ring signet ring with my initial on it, yesterday he found a 1940s AA Hubley Motorcycle. I'm trading the coins listed below for the ring and the motorcycle.
Please let me know what year you think the ring dates from.

I’m just curious to hear your thoughts regarding doing trades like this.
Through research, this is what I found out about the 1940s 'Made in England' Hubley Motorcycle…

See the pics here... http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/everything-else/622622-gifs-pics-more-491.html#post6609588

Good morning again... WD. :hello: :laughing7:

Thanks Dave

It only took 6 yrs of looking and waiting.
Yes I know I could buy new-but I wait and wait and wait. ( I'm cheap-but not easy-so gets them thoughts out of the gutter :laughing7: )
So I got the tire for $250 and the tank for $350
The tank weighed up at 614 lbs and the price of 304 stainless is at 50 cent a pound for the yard. So no processing-more $$$-win/win.

I think they like the fact that I'm doing a tad bit of consulting for the their non-ferrous side of operations. Helping them out on different ways of processing copper wire/bokering containers of mixed low content recovery.
Time is money in the industry-but if a person does enough hours it pays off.

Except it was in a dry county. Ah, maybe so as not to mess up church going. That would make sense for where I was at. Saturdays for the 7th Day Adventists and Sundays for everyone else. Geesh! It's been years since that vacation.
