Good morning, Antiquarian. How did the treasure hunting go yesterday?

Morning WD,

Thanks very much for asking. I did a 1 hour investigation at 2 of the 4 sites yesterday morning.
At the first site shown below, there was supposedly a stage coach stop. Unfortunately, all I found was an area of 40' x 40' about 100' east the road that was covered with nails.
I found a few early pottery frags and a couple of milk glass buttons, but no non-ferrous signals.


The second site was located in the middle of the farm field. According to the farmer a 50' x 50' area was dug by archeologists about 10 years ago.
Unfortunately, the site had 6" high wheat stubble, wheat grass and clover to swing through. I did get a lot of iron signals and a couple of early square nails, and an early brass manufactures plate of some kind.
I'll have to wait until the farmer disks it in the spring for a revisit.

The remaining two sites are currently under beans and corn, so I'll have to wait at least 1 - 2 months to investigate these.
