Good morning fellas.

Renewed my Charter membership so I can sell stuff again. And look at rooks political memes. :)

Rusty,

Certainly cheaper than paying fleabay fees. One decent sale should more than cover your membership for 1 year. Every sale after that becomes gravy.

Tonight keeping it simple with some leftover stuffed seashell and a side salad. I've been craving for some ceviche for some time so might have that later this week. We've got limes, a couple of jalapeno peppers and some frozen pollock. Just need some regular bell peppers and I'll use some diced garden tomatoes.

I'm going to try and get my first Luftwaffe helmet with the next sale. :)

Rusty,

Good luck....tripped over this listing I don't know what the go for or what to look for.

I've never seen anything like it... it's been restored, which means it's an original helmet, but the paint is not. It looks like an over done zucchini.

The luftwaffe helmet I'm after is in Feldgrau (field gray) paint, although it actually looks like a bluish gray. Anti Aircraft gunners had these, as well as Luftwaffe affiliated personnel.

The best website besides German Helmet Vault is this one. Many high quality photographs of some of the rarest, unique and cool German helmets ever made.

These two are Luftwaffe helmets. Note the dull gray paint, and the spread winged eagle. These can sometimes push upwards of $1,500, but some have found incredible deals on them. For instance, last week someone found a real one for $97.

Rusty,

I wonder if our friend Tom has any contacts for items you're looking for? It doesn't hurt to ask.

Here's a ceviche recipe using shrimp any firm fish will do.

A lot of our seafood restaurants are closed because of the virus. I'm really missing some of my brides and my favorite dishes. We're hoping to get to the coast soon. When in Gulf Shores try Desoto's a tried and true restaurant.

Rook,

Time to put the apron on and whip up some of those dishes yourself.....:laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

So I found two helmets (A No decal Heer helmet, and a Decaled Heer helmet - not Luftwaffe, but cool), and I posted them on another forum asking if they were good. Every "expert" has a different opinion.

It's treated leather. It isn't. The paint's good. The paint's bad. It's post war. It's a WWII Helmet. The liner is awesome! The liner sucks. It's fake. It's outstanding! I see fingerprints. Good paint! It's a repro shell. Looks good to my eye! Spend your money elsewhere. I trust this guy. It's all original, save the chinstrap. Chinstrap's fine.

What the heck? ???

It was real nice and peaceful....I was able to explore the ruins on property also. House looked to be 60s-70s block construction. But I got lucky and discovered it was stucco over wood plank !! Much older construction with a remake in the 60s. Its very dangerous and is going to be tough to clean up before I can hunt it. 1x6 planking on the outside and wide 1x10 planks on the inside !! Trying to make an offer on the only other house on the driveway. If we could move mom on to the property in the mother in law apartment and sell our house we could all move on the property and be close together all on the bay in plantation key !! Trying to make it happen !!

It's alway good to secure your footprint in life.
Overly priced, worth every penny, as it secures our property by not having a neighbour in our sightline.

We have a friend that has some great WW1 uniforms, gear, he has manikins in his office in dress uniform.
All original stuff that's like the day it was issued.
I'll pass the information along to him on anything you have/get that is Canadian related.
Top notch fellow that is true to the era/quality.

Rusty,

Well for what it's worth when all is said and done go with your gut. What do you think are they the real deal or not?

To give yourself a margin of safety if it's an auction cut your maximum bid in half....if it's a buy it now with an option to make an offer lowball it.

Some times in life we have to take chances and hope for double 8's.

I basically did it all my life-buy and selling.
It's just a way of life, and I think it's one of best ways to go through life.
I guess it's the change constantly the different items in different venues.

I'd say to the staff and wife that I was going to an auction sale - hold the fort down while I'm gone.
Forman would lament-there's no more room in the fort.
It was a scary thing was if I was in buying mood it might mean 1 - 5 tractor trailers full of inventory that would arrive for scrapping or sorting and warehousing.
Dominion Automotive auction sale it was more than 15 truck loads. I even realized that it was a tad too much. :laughing7:

I guess once it's in the blood-it's hard not to do it in some form forever.
