THE INJURY THREAD. Post your wounds here.

...With YOU?? :laughing7:

You might have a point buddy...? Kind of hard to argue with ya. :occasion14:

I KID YOU NOT.... TODAY! I'm out in the wood shop cutting stock for the next toy box on my table saw. I'm on my last piece of wood I need to butterfly (w/3" to go) and I see a knot move slightly within the wood left to go. I froze but was too late and that knot "blew up". I got hit HARD in 4 places for the first time ever in THIS manner. I got hit 2 places HARD in the chest and another piece hit my right arm then hit my jaw bone. I never let go, waited a second and pushed through the cut. BUT I WAS DONE FOR THE DAY.

Your right kcm.... "with me"... hell you never know. I guess just STAY AWAY. But I've made 61+ years and goin"... :laughing7:

Been there - done that. I had a knot kick out and bust a glass window 15' away in the shop!

I'm a slow learner, so RARELY used safety glasses. It's a total miracle I can even see to sit on the toilet nowdays!! :tongue3:

Yea I'm a slow learner also... But we both know better then to let go of that board until that inside cut clears the blade! A few years ago I had a knot explode and it took out 2 of 8 overhead 4' bulbs. Glass rained down everywhere (I still hung on!). And it's scary as hell when one lets go while in the planer also. Sounds like a shotgun going off.

I consider poison ivy an injury because when I get it, it spreads "everywhere". 3 times last summer. Only once this year.

I didn't read the whole thread so I cheated, but I've run into glass quite a few times. Only once did I get majorly cut from it.

I use straight grain lumber....I see a knot.....I'm knot using it! :laughing7:I aint no knot head!:laughing7:

If knots are loose, I won't use that part. However, have sawn through MANY knots that were tight. A loose knot means the limb died on the tree. Tight knots were from live limbs when the tree was cut, sawn into lumber and dried.

A few weeks ago I was cutting 2x6's for roof rafters. Using a 12" compound miter saw, with a 130 tooth quality blade, it still slowed the saw down when cutting through a knot. When a knot is on the end of a stud/joist/rafter, when you nail it.....nail hits knot! I now remove the knot. I lose a couple of inches either side of the knot..... but it saves time, money and my sanity! When a nail (hammered or pneumatically installed...) hits a knot.... Who knows where that nail is going! Usually out the side of the board

So for the past few months while detecting I've been having increasing pain in my left thumb and wrist while pushing my digger into the ground. Typically I use my right hand to grip the handle and the base of left my thumb to push down on the hand guard. Well one morning after a few hours of detecting the day before I woke up with my thumb completely locked up. I went to a hand specialist who gave me a couple of cortisone shots but they didn't have any effect. After an MRI it was determined that I needed surgery on my thumb and wrist.

It's been a long couple of weeks without being able to detect, but I finally got my bandages and stitches out today. Six weeks of physical therapy to come, but hopefully I can get out there for a hunt soon. Enjoy the pics!

Ouchy!.....keep that clean!
Hope you get to digging soon.....

And Truth....sorry I missed your poison ivy pic.....thanks for posting!

Gotta bump the thread....I got me an ailment, and it sucks.
Been on the down low since vacation to Maryland, spent more time in the hospital than beeping up there, now that I'm home, things are no better.

The pain in my neck not just a pulled muscle....diagnosis.....
Degenerative Cervical Radiculopathy.
Awesome.:BangHead:
Fancy term for a middle aged guy with a herniated disc, resulting in a pinched nerve.
My ring finger and pinky are constant pins and needles, my wrist, back of my hand, up to my elbow are numb, elbow throbbing, shoulder hurts like hell, and every once in a while it feels like a hot knife in my armpit.
Good news is it's my left side affected, bad news is what it takes to kick this.
The pain pills, anti-inflammatories, and muscle relaxers are wreaking havoc on my poop schedule, can't drink beer, and a good night sleep escapes me. Oh yea, having the hiccups for 26 hours last weekend sucked. My diaphragm still hurts.
Rehab and traction are in my near future, and the MRI that I just had will pinpoint where the steroid shot will go into my neck.
After 16 years of throwing around 5 gal bottles of water, boss wants to know if I'm gonna take disability, or miss work...
Not this knucklehead. Gotta get paid....that's the way it is.
So, after the holidays, if all is well, which is what I'm banking on....should be swinging and normal again.

I would show a selfie of me in my support collar, but it's stupid and uncomfortable.

Dang sounds like your falling apart. I feel for ya but not to that extreme is my pain.

Inversion machine. 200 bucks and some insurance plans will help.
I have had lower herniated discs for years, and can still function. It's traction at home!
I believe there is a neck sling/harness that allows weights on your neck while hanging upside down.

The good news is my company has solid insurance...
I will find out more in next few days what needs to be done....until then, I'll have another oxy or five

Broke my big toe in August when I put all my weight on the shovel and my foot slipped off.
