Once again, bud, great purchase!

Danimal!

You have inspired me. Yes... Because of you and your adventures (especially this last one), I am now the proud owner of a DFX!

Seriously. I just bought one and I'm not afraid to get it dirty either! ;)

I hope it comes within the week....

CHEERS!

Gulp! :o.... I hope several things are true:
1) Your budget allowed this and you were already thinking about a DFX before you read my post!
2) You were torn between a DFX and an Explorer (as I was...I actually had bid on FOUR Minelabs and three DFX's before I got this one) and decided, like I did, to buy American.
3) That your budget has room for a pickaxe and chisel!

j/k Ridley :D Good deal on the DFX....I think it can do a LOT, but now I KNOW that the learning curve is REAL steep. You should go online today and :
1) Buy Jeff Foster's book "Digging Deeper with the DFX"
2) Go to Whites website and order the book by Jimmy Sierra "Understanding Whites DFX"...it is FREE!!
3) Download and print the DFX manual now, bind it and start reading now.
4) Go join the DFXonly forum and read all you can endure from past posts.
5) Go to the Findemall forum and read everything you can stand in their DFX classroom forum.

By the time your DFX arrives you will already have a basic understanding of it's control scheme and how to manuever through the menu options.

Nice hunting Dan and great dedication. That's some tough digging for sure.

Thanks Dan,
I will do all those things! I was actually torn between an XLT or a Minelab Sovereign. Then I found a DFX for a little more and bought it.

This upgrade was way overdue and I plan to dig everything (just like I always do). except this time... deeper. ;)

I'm not kidding. Seeing you use yours solidified my decision!

I can't wait to try it!!!!!

dude...you have my utmost respect...ur no fair weather hunter!!!

Re: First silver for the DFX-High tones and low temps at the Iceberg

Dan,

My setings will vary from yours. The dfx needs to be programed for specific ground conditions. I can max mine out here with a ac sence of 85 and still be stable. That's why it can be very difficult to share programs with others.

You'll figure out how it runs best for you in your soils. I've played with this unit alot. And the way I have it set runs awesome here for me. You''ll get the hang of it. It takes time to learn this unit.

The more coils the better. Sounds like you got a great buy also. I've bought detectors off ebay and had good results with them also.

That is some dedication bro~!...Good on ya~!

Re: First silver for the DFX-High tones and low temps at the Iceberg

Dan your to cool. Nice finds! I have also bought a DFX, thank you for the tip although climate here is much warmer.

Re: First silver for the DFX-High tones and low temps at the Iceberg

You seem so proficient at something that took me 2 years to get the hang of!
Congrats!
The DC phase is very useful. Remember that it will give you a 15khz raw VDI reading: eg. quarters will show 83 on your main screen and 91 in the DC phase. Also use Jeff Fosters 2 step for an DC phase accurate reading - place coil on clean ground next to your target and pinpoint the quickly back over your target and observe the reading. This saves a lot of digging and also ID's the iffy tones.
When you want to get real deep try Mixed Mode in conjunction wit DC phase. It will drive you nuts at first but you'll love it in the cleaner areas.
Great job!

Pal, make sure you did them 28 VDIs. Those were words of advice from another pal, Rob a.k.a. Paco, 1690 British Farthing Digger Upper Dude of the 21st Century AD.

Awesome weather, I would have gone with you! I have only had to do that once this year, seems winter has forgotten us, thank goodness. Congrats on the hard earned silver and wheats = both kinds, LOL! HH, Mike

Dang- I hear ya, but when you're looking at a DFX program, that is the standard listing for settings. There's a lot to learn with this machine. A LOT of changes in settings affect OTHER settings. I am starting slowly.
