Just saw a brief preview. From the same folks that brought us The Curse of Oak Island. Just happens to be up by Marty Lagina's neck of the woods and they just happen to be using the same guy who does the metal detecting from The Curse of Oak Island, ( Gary Drayton ).

Some say the guys on Oak Island had some type of argument ? and maybe this is why ?

100% entertainment, that's all these shows are. I can already tell you nothing will be found, because if it was we would hear it in the news long before the show came out. So 100% no Confederate gold will be found and this show is as far-fetched as it gets. I hate how they try to get you excited two or three episodes leading up to some possible big discovery and it's ALWAYS a let down. I'm sure there is some gold stashes buried or deep in some cave, but 99.9% of these gold rumors are just that...rumors. These shows are good to watch for entertainment, but that's all I ever really look at them as.

I wonder if Rick Lagina isn't under an agreement with the History Channel to "NOT" say he is yet a "money man" and reason being, the History Channel is hoping many others come running forward with their money offers in hopes of beating Rick Lagina to the punch ? Then after they get these other sponsors they announce that they did indeed have an agreement with Rick. This would just mean more money in the pocket for the History Channel. History Channel is using Rick as bait to draw in others. :dontknow:

I can't recall if they said the gold was supposed to have been intentionally sunk in the lake for hiding, but if so that's just plain dumb. Simply because there would have been no possible way to retrieve it during that time.

I am guessing that most of the lake has already been scanned in the past. Go back and research this. If you do this then you won't need a bigger boat or better sonar system, heck, you won't even need Rick which will mean less to split ? Why would Kevin Dykstra and crew approach Rick anyway ? Was it for his connections to the History Channel ? Rick is having trouble finding his own treasure, why would he consider jumping in with someone, other than family, for another story of "rumored" tales ? Just does not make logical sense.:icon_scratch:

To me, it should have been in an accessible spot, unless, you felt the authorities closing in and the risk was just to great. The next best thing would be to dump it were it would not and could not be found. It would be better to live a ripe old age poor than to be caught and placed in prison and who knows, tried for treason ? If he was caught with the spoils, he would have to explain how he ended up with it and if that "Friendly fire" scenario was investigated further then what could the repercussions have been ?

Oh say what you want (including my complaint about the narrator) - but - WE will all be watching the next episode.

Well......... some of us have to watch just in case it gets better.

Kind of like having a headache - you keep shaking your head to see if it still hurts! :laughing7:

I think it was smart on Marty’s part for saying he’d like to see more evidence. Finding a few random civil war relics doesn’t mean it was part of a bigger part. I wish some would follow me around with a camera when I went relic hunting cause lord knows they would think I found something amazing and significant but I don’t want unwanted attention on my sites

Why are they screwing around in the dirt if they believe it’s in a boxcar under the water? What a colossal waste of time.
Only one item looked like a CW piece and that was the coin.
The old nuts and bolts look like tilling hardware.

Like Simone1 Says

To find ONLY one nut and one bolt would NOT be conclusive evidence to me. They said they burnt the wagons ? If that is the case, there should have been many many more nuts and bolts and pieces of iron both small and large.

To only find one coin would again NOT be conclusive evidence to me. The show pictures them emptying kegs or barrels of coins into a hole then coming back to dig them up. With the pressure of an advancing army on them, I can not imagine that they were that meticulous in getting everything out of that hole, with the exception of only leaving behind one coin. Additional coins could have been missed in that hole, or even spilled around the area. To only find one coin is hard to imagine.

If they would have located a Scattering of Gold & silver coins,
and the appearance of an Iron Dump, with 100% Recognizable Wagon Parts scattered.

They would have a Chance of getting the support they Want.

some of us would probably still wonder if it was Faked. :laughing9:

But Evidence of the cache actually Existing Would be there

Marty is being conservative for sure. What puzzles me is to "Why" would a treasure hunter approach another treasure hunter for funding ? :icon_scratch: :icon_scratch: :icon_scratch:
I liked Marty's response when they called him to tell him about their finds. It was as if he wanted to brag about finding a silver coin. Especially when he said to Marty, I don't want to tell you I told you so, but I did find a silver coin, which Rick promptly replied, you promised me gold and this isn't gold, ( or something along that line of wording ).

Already starting off on shaky ground. Heck of a way to kick off a "New" series.

I agree with you total. Good hunting and good luck.
