strange pile of rocks

Well actually it points in the opposite direction , I walked in from the north and the tail points to the south. Heres a picture of a view of a larger area around the turtle. This was taken from a different angle than the previous pictures.
i just finished reading all of this and saw a few things that no one else did. i dont know if they are anything or not but i just wanted to point them out.
very interesting hunt. makes me miss colorado even more. cant wait to mave back.

Because the rocks are squared off and concertrated in one location, I am guessing that it may be a small building foundation, referring to photo (CVBN). Did you notice the face on a rock to the left of the tower in that photo? Where were the pics. taken? You may have found a very ancient site.

TLH, the starter of this thread seems to have disappeared. Both Thom (Old Dog) and I have tried making contact with him over the last few months with no luck.

Which is really to bad. I recommend reading this thread from the beginning. There is a very cool story here with tons of great photos. I really think he was onto something but we'll never know.

Hopefully he's purchased his own private island in the South Pacific and is enjoying pina coladas as we speak and not the alternative.....

Oh man, I hope he's ok!! I hate it when these guys just disappear like that, it's scary :'( :'( :'(

Canadian, You are so right. This is a fascinating and educational thread and useful Hopefully he is all well and good and enjoying himself no matter what he is doing.

Last year, I provided pictures shown in this strand to an Ohio State tree expert. His conclusion, based on a number of factors (including age), was that the bends, twists, and other weirdness were natural. He said he'd seen such stuff all over the world, that it was almost exclusively due to environmental conditions.

An interesting note: the same PhD was following up on a "treasure" lead. Apparently, I have no idea what story he was relating or if it is common knowledge (just not mine), there is a treasure tale about gold and fungus. Yes, fungus. The treasure marker was a grove of trees with colored trunks (in Arizona, Nevada).

He maintains that the coloring is from an unusual fungus that goes after particular trees (if I am remembering this right). He and an associate are following up on a lead (trees discovered by one or more of his students). Fungus as a treasure marker. Whoda thunk it?

This is intersting Cause I have heard something similar. Could you say more on this fungus and Gold.

Victorio...

I am not sure if you are addressing me, but... I really don't know anything more. A legend had it that tree trunks nearby the cache were red. The professor said it sounded like a rare fungus. Things went from there - somebody found some trees/topography that fit the legend. Has anyone followed up? I don't know.

Thank You, The reason I ask is becasue I have heard that whenever you have Gold buried close by you will sometimes get a yellow fungus on rocks. I heard this once but blew it off as not being important. I don't know if it's true.

Victorio...

I'd contact a college or university and talk with the appropriate departments. Most of the time professors, etc. are willing to talk with the public, especially if its an interesting/unusual situation.

I've never heard of the gold-fungus connection. I am not sure if gold could cause such a thing (gold is used in dental work, etc. because it is an inert metal) - at least I think that's one of the reasons.

Good luck.

Very intriguing thread. TLH was last active on 10/8/08 although he hasn't posted in a while.
Hope all is well and thread continues for us dreamers.

Hi guys, and gals. I just thought I would jump in here for a minute and let everyone know that I’m still alive and kicking, I’ve been away from Treasurenet for quite a while, and I didn’t realize that my absence would even be noticed,[ I thought it might even be appreciated ;D] .

truth is a couple of things conspired against me, causing me to turn my attention in other directions . First, some family problems diverted my attention away from treasure hunting and my other hobbies , and made me focus on things in life that matter much more than gold or any other treasure. then my little Sony laptop quit working, and it was not only my sole connection to the internet, but it was the computer that I carried out in the woods to hook up to my magic treasure hunting machine, [riding around in a backpack up and down the mountains apparently isn’t good for laptops ] All of this left me with very little time for treasure hunting, no way to use my magic treasure hunting gadget, and no internet access.

Now things are slowly getting better, my personal problems are heading in a better direction instead of getting worse, my 13 inch Sony Vaio has a new hard drive so its working ok [but now the cooling fan sounds like it sucked up a pine cone ,so it looks like I will have to replace that to]

I spent some time last night catching up on whats been going on in the forum, some good stuff there. Old dog your ----Basic Spanish signs and symbols you have found--- post is great, It occupied most of my limited brain power, and most of my night to get through it all, but I did. Now I gotta go back through it and copy some of the pictures and notes for my Treasure Hunting note book, thanks Thom.

all in all I hope that I can spend at least a little more time treasure hunting and some time telling you guys, and gals about what I’m doing. thanks everyone for sticking with me and keeping my story alive.

Sorry to hear about the family problems.
figured you were living it up with your family on some South sea island!! LOL
but either way I am glad to hear you haven't quit this chase.

Glad my thread on signs interests you. I hope it has in some way helped you to come to a conclusion about some of the things you are finding.
please feel free to include anything from your site that you think should be included.
These signs are a disappearing thing in the American west due to nothing less than ignorance.
My thread is an attempt to put a stop to some of this by education.

Once again buddy,
am glad you are OK and are better in your personal circumstances.
Get that little machine running and you should be perfect for a while.

Glad to have you back.

Thom

Well slap my @ss and call me Suzie! Look who shows up out of the blue. I too was hoping for an email from you on your purchased south sea island. I was hoping actually that it was going to be an invite to visit!!! :tongue3:

Glad things are getting back on track for you TLH, talk to ya soon. Can't wait for more pics from your trail/site. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for your kind words everyone, I always feel welcome here.

Thom I do have a couple of things that I would like to post on your "Signs" thread and I was just wondering, Is it supposed to be a place to put real Spanish signs and an explanation as to what they are and what they mean, or a place to put a picture of a rock and ask, is it a sign and what does it means? most of the pictures I have appear to be just interesting rocks with a very doubtful Spanish heritage so I'm not sure If they would fit in a thread on the meaning of Spanish signs. whatda ya think Thom.

Djui5, "Suzie", Star, and all you other guys ,thanks for your concern, and for sticking with me. don't worry about me disappearing to a Tropical island, I was raised in and around the Florida Keys so Ive had enough Tropical islands, No amount of money could get me out of Colorado, Ill live in the mountains and probably die above timberline telling myself, if I just had one more day to search I could find the treasure.
