I did not go but my cousin did and said most ammo was gone except shotgun and higher end ammo.

That is still the situation around here as well...

Ja, .22 LR went FAST around here a few months ago when the panic hit everybody with a .22 thought "hmm, how can I buy the most ammo with the money I have on HAND?"
22 LR was the answer.

i was lucky to get a few bricks of CCI velocitor for social work (if I HAVE to go to 22, the velocitor is the best offering in 22) and a few bricks of plinking stuff.
Another problem is that nobody reloads .22

When it comes to brass tacks, a 40 grain hollow point .22 from 10 feet into the brain pan or an organ trumps a .45 that misses due to recoil, panic or muzzle flip

Yeah, same thoughts as you on the .22 LR ammo. People are buying it cause it makes them feel better because they can buy way more of that than anything else. Same reason I like to visit the all you can eat buffet! Quantity is king! LOL!
