Treasure hunting, as a way of connecting with nature energies or paranormal.

If you really want to experience heightened senses in the outdoors, take all your clothes off and head into the woods. I guarantee you’ll be more aware than you’ve ever been. You’ll be creeping along, hiding behind cover, listening to every sound. You will be moving and watching and listening exactly like a deer does. 😜😉

The old "naked with a sharp stick" approach. It sounds strange, but works astoundingly well, and fast.

Fantastic story now I understand the Wolf is your spirit animal. For me it is The Crow, I am Crow by name, Crow by nature and born in my mother tongue insé gleann na Slua meaning the valley of the Crows. It was where my family originated from the Celtic préachán clan.

A crow is scavenger and opportunist. My mother's side was Foley meaning Plunderer. So I guess treasure hunting was natural fit?

Once a Raven met me at my truck at a ancient cliff dwelling. When I rolled up my window to say goodbye it started singing a very mournful song. I felt like it didn't want me to leave, but said I'm sorry I've already screwed around long enough and had to get a move on.

Astrodruid. I have never detected in Northern Ireland nor Southern Ireland as in the south Metal detecting is illegal in the republic. The landscape mountains and forest are littered with past everywhere. you can still stone foundations of iron age round houses in County Kerry as well as rath's. Circle fortifications for iron age chieftains. Traces of ancient farms and cairns. rock carvings dating back to bronze age ruined churches and castles and abandoned houses from the great famine liter the landscape.

While small in land area the area is packed with history, myth and folklore.

Every place has a story for the price of a brew or two.

In hidden remote corners never really far away from habitation there are reminders of history everywhere. Of once proud Celtic tribal clans that lived and died there and there presence is still there in traces in the landscape.

This property that has the remains of small village dating back to the 13th century destroyed by the great hunger. now covered in pine forest. if only those walls can speak what would they tell?

It is easy to fall into the magic of place and its folklore than brings legends alive

There is reminders of life and death everywhere.

The hardship. Love happiness joy and eternal sorrow etched into the very stones.

The cries of children laughter and chatter of life no longer sings in the mournful silence.

The village street once muddy with cart tracks now a green passage way through the trees.

it is easy to see and feel watchful eyes are everywhere in forgotten corners of landscape in the silence of the forest. The kingdom of Kerry wild forgotten place.

There are many places like this all over the world silent witness to the joys and atrocities of life haunting our thoughts in the almost silent whispers in the trees. A place where the supernatural and natural blur into evening shadows as the rain drops fall in tears in memory of what was. And the realm of the living and the realm of Tuath Dé Danann seems that little bit closer.

Nothing wrong being naked when we are born we do not come out in clothes.? It was so liberating. Many year ago I was shipwreck on coral atoll and I wore no clothes at all. When I finally got back to civilization people Joked Crow I knew you when you was white.

Nature can be a good judge of people.

I had to DDG (DuckDuckGo) a couple of those terms but I get what you’re saying because that fits me too. Though I am fitting in better now in the world I should be in. Posting here an Reddit has really curbed my anxiety and made me not seem so standoffish. Or as I’ve been told before- “scary”.
No shame anxiety because its a survival mechanism . it means you still have your humanity I suffered from that for years. Constantly second guessing yourself. in high stress environments it can keep you alive. Its just hard to turn off some times.

Superb pictures of Kerry.... you are making me feel a bit homesick....
We have plenty up North too,, and as you say, it is legal, whilst still in the U.K. treasure act zone..
I spent a few hours detecting on the beaches of Donegal in the past, wasn't actually aware that it was against the law,, but found out later in the local pub... So only ever went back to surf and drink.....

Once again thanks for those pics.......🎅

I don’t see anything strange or outlandish about it at all. I’m new to this type of treasure hunting but I’ve been an avid hiker and hunter my entire life and have had many of the same kind of experiences. The mountains, wildlife, and our ancestors speak to us, if we listen.

I’ll share one and it will explain how I got this silly nickname at the same time. When I was 4 years old my family was visiting a guy my father served with on his reservation. During a powwow I went into the forest and they looked for me all evening and night but I was nowhere to be found. The next morning I casually returned with a full grown male wolf walking by my side.

When we approached the search party going out that morning my mother was standing next to their medicine man and in a very matter of fact tone he said “Girl With Wolf back”. The pidgin English was intentional and the nickname (his sarcasm) stuck.

I only have a foggy memory of it, but I remember finding the wolf pack, the Luna leading me to water and to a dead deer that I used to stay warm, and at sunrise the Alpha guiding me back to my family. Anyway, it isn’t unusual to me to have unusual things happen in the mountains, because I didn’t just wander off, something called to me, and I remember not being the least bit scared.
As a boy I had two Native American Grandmothers. Our family was always a little different.

Perhaps this has been discussed before, but i feel that i need to bring it up anyway...
As my forum handle implies, I am deeply involved with understanding and experiencing things which are considered paranormal or outlandish, by a lot of people. I am a metal detectorist and find myself in some pretty remote and beautiful locations, as I'm sure a lot of you folks do... I find the treks and the time spent in the hills and forests to be very relaxing and almost a meditative practice, i sometimes get well beyond my 'mind chatter' and feel very receptive to the natural energies that envelope me .. On more than a few occasions i have become aware of energies, entities and unusual things going on around me, as i slowly plod around with my detector and dogs. It has become so frequent, that i respectfully address (vocally) each forest/area when i arrive, in some sort of announcement of my intentions for the visit.... hoping to minimise the potential interactions. Subtle energies have often helped me find some great stuff, and i take time to make my thanks,,, other times I have been quite brutally driven from areas where I was unwelcome, by uneasy feelings, things being thrown in my direction and, on more than one occasion, the actual surroundings creating offensive noises.... once an exposed rockface just blatantly growled at me,, sending my dogs into a frenzy and cutting my visit short,, made a speedy exit from the area.. I have seen entities follow me, usually about 3-4 trees distant, had whispers inside my Nox headphones,, and many other strange happenings..
So i wanted to give a few examples (have plenty more, one or two of which were terrifying) and see if anyone else has experiences similar happenings whilst treasure hunting ?....
To some this will all sound a bit 'mad' or be the imagination of a paranoid or insecure guy,,, but i can tell you that i am neither. i am not easily spooked, and usually prefer to stay and address the situation head -on , I grew up in the mountains and am aware of animal and natural noise generation..

So,, anyone want to discuss or add their input ?

So I have before metal detected at an old mid 19th century homestead which has laid to the ground for years that’s near an old cemetery all hidden back in the woods. I’ve in my mind have said on my way there, if anyone has buried some treasure or anything on this land, your welcome to walk we me and guide me to it! But I don’t think anyone was listening 🤣
