Set off a booby trap?

the spanish sometimes set up a visible trap to make the finder think it was protecting the cache when the actual cache site was 20-30 yards away............i have several pictures of traps if someone wants i can e-mail them so they can be posted as i am unable to post pics here and am not going to try again..............gldhntr

Speaking of booby traps. Is there a way that they could have used a gunpowder mercury mix. When the gun powder is ignited and burn the mercury into vapor, then unsuspecting treasure hunter inhales that vapor. No big bang just a strange smell. Then cough cough I don't feel good.

Darren,

I am a Bomb technician of over six years. If you have pics or a good description, I may be able to help you. I live in charlotte, and if your not too far, I might be able to take a look for something worth having.

Hey Bobo - never seen any myself. At the time I wrote this, Jacko was posting several, so it made me wonder. Good luck in Charlotte. You've got plenty of history all around you :)

Darren -- I just poted one under death trap found aobut 4 down from this post it's my latest.

Back When I first started in Oct. 2004) I posted one in side a cave and also another one out side the cave.
Then there's another I have only been told it was a death trap has a very Large horse head and looks like someone put a puzzle together.
Here it is, I walked up the side of it as there was a path and stood above it. There is a ledg about 4fft wide on top

Here's the picture maybe I did pot this one before I can't remember. there are several in one post that talks about Rattle sankes as booby traps. Couldn't find it. there I posted the first two I found the same day.
There is either a heart or triangle in center see how the rocks around the tri. are put together like a puzzle. thought I'd throw in the little man under the BIG boulder next to trap as I was going up path. then the gold Heart is one the Largw wall to the right of the trap, that's path is between the wall and the puzzle.

I would say that any trap that has been set can be undone.... must just work out how the trap was set in the first place....

Just my guess ::)

I have to agree wit pgill, If a trap was sit, it can be taken out
without blowing it up. I just seen like the men that put it here
would want to be able to get the treasure out some day, and
not be kill trying.

I read a really good book my father bought after Viet Nam and as for just in the movies thats just BS lol
I have a nice hand made crossbow pulled from a boobie trap in a viet nam tunnel so they had to get knowledge like that from somewhere

When I was THing in Tueson area I can across a few Dangerous Spanish mines. You can tell the difference in New mines and old Spanish mines. The old Spanish mines would consist of a small square opening with no rock piles near the entrance. Before you enter any mine opening FIRST check the sides of the mine entrance. Look for any any shinny spots. This is where they stored their explosives. A greasy or shiny spot shows NITRO from old dynamite and one mistake it goes BOOM.

Peg Leg-- Was that north east of Tucson, you were?? There are several in this area. How long ago was this?

Jacko

I was there in 1979.
I did very very good. Found some good gold nuggets and some native silver as well. Of course I was near the Papago RES. But I was given directions by a YAKEE Medicine Man at Pasque Village which is just a little east of Tueson. I also spent some time with the White Mountain Apache. Those were the days.

Pegleg-- Nuggets are my real hobby, I have a mine alb and have dug some deep holes only for trash. I love to go to Stanton area for the big ones, found some nice nuggies there.

I want to talk about BOOBY TRAPS.
There are FOR REAL. Not the Spainish type but the Drug Dealers type. There grow their pot in many
strange places. They are not designed to kill but sometimes the end results is DEATH. When I was in Korea and Viet Nam I learned about most of these anti-personal devices and set a few myself.
Remember to watch where you go. Be aware of where you are at all times.

Nova Scotia

crypto dave, is that place in Nova Scotia? They say also that the knights templar has hidden the holy grail there. The thing is, i think they are smarter than having it booby trapped. The fact is, if they burried something 200 feet in the earth, no one would find it anyways. Think about if you dig 1 foot, and find a stone tablet with engraving on it. It gives away its location, The treasure has been found, just not recovered. So they don't really know what it could be, since the trap was set off, it shows that there is for sure something down there worth keeping safe. If the trap was never set, people would give up digging and say, there's probably nothing there.

Jacko,
I am also interested in Gold Nuggets. In fact I have a Gold claim in Oregon-160 acres in fact in the Laurel Mountains National Forest. In the western mountains of Oregon. Went out there for my sons graduation from college and he took me only a little trip to the mountains. I spotted a rock on the side of the road and picked it up. It was near a mountain stream. The rock did not match other rocks in the area. Took it back to his house and smashed the stone into little bits. Here was a surprise. Inside the rock there was a very small silver looking nugget about 1/8" long and 1/16" thick. It was PLATINUM. Needless to say I filed a claim that day and had all my family members join in. It cost me only $35.00 to file the claim all 160 acres. You can check it out for yourself. Just go to the Laurel Mountain National Forest and then go to Gold Creek and then find Gooseneck Creek. This is where my clain is located.
You should have seen this old man claimbing the mountains with only one leg. Sometimes I can actually SMELL GOLD. I have some people working the claim and they send me a percent of what they find (sometimes) ::). So far I have received over 4 ounces of nuggets including one that was 28.00 grams. This more than covers what I spent.
There is tons of paper work involved in working a claim on Government property-still filling out forms-it never ends.
One thing about it I am very optimistic.
I am either 1 foot away from a million dollars or a million feet away from one dollar ;D ;D
Good hunting.

You are full of surprises, Peg Legged. Thanks for sharing a great story! Good luck in your adventure! I hope you hit the big one :)

Pegleg -- That's neat you can still climb those hills. Hope your claim pays off Big.
North of Phoenix there were calim scams going on for awhile on E-bay. These guys put claims on a lot of ground that produces very little gold and was selling the claims for big money. There's been a lot of nuggets pulled out here but, no real placer has come out in YEARS.

If Spanish educate yourself to the dangers. There is a lot you need to know. I would find the pozo (air vent) on top of the mine. Then take every percaution when you go in. Spanish traps are marked. Most Spanish mines do not have traps. If they do there is treasure.

You are not going to be able to set the trap off and go inside(Unless you have TNT). I have photos of death traps that I have not set off.

If it is a KGC trove with traps forget it. You will spend a fortune and never recover the treasure.

For drug dealers that trap. Look on the internet for books about Bobbie traps.

Unless you have nerves of steel I would forget it. There is easier treasure.
Email if you need real assistance.
