Watch The Curse of Oak Island Full Episodes & Videos Online - HISTORY.com

was wondering where all the info came from, for the pit in the 1800s
went looking and found this book, and a website that been keeping
and putting up records for the 1900s. after reading all this material i
think if there is something in the pit, it will never be found, unless that
whole side of the island is dug out, anyway as has been said nothing
like a good treasure mystery

Why do you think half of the island would need to be excavated? Just because of the tunnels? If they find the vault and what's in it, that whole island will become a major archeological site.

They aren't basing this show on your tweets. Hate to burst your bubble.

I was saying that jokingly......

Hate to base my facts on pics but its carved on this Bird's head shaped rock, along with the Bishop's hat, and the Keystone Marking for the eye. The Bird's Eye View.....to get to the next clue.....

this is clue number 6 on my research work and honestly has nothing to do with Alotta Fagina and Goldmember....

...nice try thinking what I was thinking.....

all the shafts and Robert Dunfield excavation, i would think it would be hard to find the pit and vault
in the ebook i posted, it was said there was a sink hole close by too.hope they do find it and whats in it

So, what are everyone's thoughts on the core sample?

the Skeptic in me says faked in order to satisfy the bother who just
got done telling them they need to have reason to continue forking out money.

OR

they drilled into logs & other fill thrown in haphazardly when the pit was refilled
all those years ago.

The treasure Hunter in me says, I hope the Skeptic in me is wrong :laughing7:

the previews on the coin for next week ?
Obviously a Plant. If not by them, By someone many years ago.
plants in order to secure investors are probably scattered all over
the island.

Hey all I've been lurking for awhile time to finally post.

How could a core be faked? Multiple witnesses including the obviously skeptical drilling team watched it be pulled up.

How do you expain away concrete in a core from 140 feet down? The previous concrete sample collected from this location more than a hundred years ago was analysed as being "worked by man" meaning not naturally occurring.

Even if the concrete was some remnant of a previous excavation attempt, how can the wood samples showing perpendicular grains be explained? Either of these anomalies by itself would be extremely bizarre, in conjunction they represent some of the best proof found to date that there is something strange down there.

I am not currently aware of any record showing concrete was used in the escavation of any of the pits.

it would be a totally freak occurrence but as I said

If Wood & concrete was thrown in with the fill , and if by
some freak occurrence it landed in that position,
the drill core would look like that.
Yes I'm grabbing :laughing7: just saying it is possible.
probably as possible as taking a core sample & finding the setup they did,
that quickly

as for Multiple witnesses... On a TV set ? also not impossible .
when Money talks BS walks.

Keeping an open mind Both ways, I want to see More

I guess we'll know in a week or two...or three...or four...or...

When the drilling guys grabbed the core sample they got sprayed pretty good with water. I wonder if that was salt or fresh water. The other drill spot was fresh water which didn't coincide with the other accounts.

They said the 1890 group drilled down in that area to 170 feet and hit something hard they thought was metal. How deep was the spot they are in now actually dug? Did anyone make it down to 140ft there or were they stopped by flooding?

I think the core is legit, but unless the wood can be dated (not likely, as being 140ft down would preserve it pretty well) I don't think there is a way to know if its from a dig or something earlier. I know Marty would never proceed with a mass excavation unless he knew for sure it was not part of any earlier attempts. They still have no way of keeping water out once they do...I doubt the hugest pumps in the world would be able to keep water at bay at that depth.

So others have drilled thousands of holes and they get a core of something that the old guy was like, one in a million. If they are on a chamber the only way to know would be to keep drilling and try to get dimensions. But if there really are any artifacts down there, the drilling could really be doing a lot of damage.

They can do what the original diggers did
tongue3.gif

they were apparently pretty fast
laughing7.gif

whatever that was or

build a big wall to keep the water out.

Dig a Deep hole somewhere on the island where there is no traps.

Then tunnel over to the treasure. just like they did to build the traps.

should be able to do it faster then these ancients did with their fingers in the 1600's :tongue3:

I think if this were a home video of the core coming up or if we were actually there to witness it, we would be more excited. The skepticism comes in because it's a "reality" TV series. They use actors, props, and creative editing all the time to try to make something look like something else. Of course, everyone WANTS it to be real and legit but with TV shows, a healthy dose of skepticism is always appropriate.

So your two possible explanations are

1) The drill operators, the Laginas and the TV crew are all complicit in a conspiracy to drill a fake core, just to keep the TV audience interested.

2) Nature miraculously created the conditions needed for such a core to be extracted.

Both of these theories are illogical.

1) The Laginas' primary concern on the island is finding something valuable/solving the mystery. That much is evident. Nobody in their crew seems particularily fond of being on camera other than Rick with his windswept hairdo.

The TV show royalties alone are not worth prolonging the search.

Marty seems very aware of how easy it is to lose a fortune on Oak Island.

Think about it. The royalties for one episode are not going to greatly (if at all) exceed the cost of drilling for two full days. The hourly rate for that drill is probably close to a thousand bucks.

Therefore it is illogical that they would fabricate evidence for the TV show. It would be throwing money down a hole.

2) The part of the core that is the most interesting to me is the foot long section of vertically-grained wood that just so happens to come after the concrete and the horizontally-grained piece. In order to obtain a core like that naturally, the timber would have to be standing up perfectly straight.

The simplest answer is almost always the right one.

Which is more simple, that a man made structure was drilled into in the general viscinity that it was thought to exist? Or

Nature miraculously stacked a thin piece of concrete and a horizontally placed chunk of wood on top of a perfectly vertical length of timber 140 feet below ground, and the drill just happened to find the center of it?

You are not really keeping an open mind if you believe that. You are putting your FAITH in a negative outcome to avoid being let down.

Yea I'm always Critical (Cautious) of TV shows

By the way, The Giant show after.......

I got 3/4 of the way through & deleted.
I'm done with that one. I'm not interested in a search for tall people

Robert Wadlow was 8′ 11.1" tall 440 pounds and still growing
at his death.
those types of giants are not new.
so a race with the same genitic makeup
would not be a surprise to me.

30 feet tall 2000 pounds would be a Giant

Dr. Meh,

So, what are everyone's thoughts on the core sample?

Test the concrete. What was the source of the lime for the binder? What size gravel? Crushed stone? A bunch of pirates aren't going to have the screens and tipples and rock-crushers needed to make high quality, so was it all local beach pebbles and local sand or Portland cement and crushed stone? I assume no one ever found a lime kiln on the island. That would be a HUGE clue to the age.

Or is it just natural aggregate siltstone?

Maybe they should research the genetics of most of the players in the NBA ;)

The concrete samples found in the late eighteen hundreds were analyzed as being 37% lime, 33% carbonate, 13% silica, 10% iron and 5% magnesium. And definitely man-made.

I'd love to discuss this, but I think Barney Fife would tell me I'm not allowed.

Huh ? what ? ..........

Giants ? the Search for Giants ? or Robert Wadlow ?
we probably shouldn't risk a hijack,
But feel free to start another thread in General Discussion with your Thoughts.

I can always Re post in it

I'd love to, but the documents I would present are not allowed to be discussed here.

OK I Think I know where your going.
& if your talking Real Giants, some of That documentation is a sticky situation .
especially before some real proof was introduced first, in order to consider
searching for Giants
a legit treasure search.
