Season "3" of Curse of Oak Island

Hutton Pulitzer's theory (he's been on the show a couple of times) is that perhaps any chamber that lies beneath the Money Pit was not created via a vertical excavation, but was dug horizontally. If sea level has been rising over the years, going back in time one might reach a point where the water level is a couple of hundred feet lower than it is today.

Brilliant - so during the last 12,000 to 110,000 years ago in the Pleistocene (the last ice age) it was erosion that carved out the potenial subterranian vaults or caused sink-holes as the glaciers receeded. But there would have been thousands of feet of glacier parked on Nova Scotia and Oak Island at that time.

I said here that was the best case answer two years ago. Natural features containing no treasure except geologic information.

Found a theory for the oak platforms

You're assuming that there were oak platforms. Theorizing about their purpose when there's no material evidence to support their existence is putting the cart before the horse, no?

They brought in the "sword" ? OMG, I'm going to have to find the episode and watch it so I can laugh my arse off!!!

The way they staged it for next week they show it after a "big" metal detector hit to make the audience think it was found there. More trickery by the producers.

lol... I do know what you mean. That was the worst episode this season. That ark theory was worse then the Aztec one. Another looney they have dug up that wants to get on the telly.

I thought the diagrams from that link were interesting. "IF" the story of the pit being dug is true these diagrams seem to offer a plausible explanation as to why the platforms were there.

I do concede that is a giant IF....

Yea the Sword has absolutely nothing to do with what ever was Detected & My guess is,
a piece of Iron was what was detected.
probably something to do with the possible original pit.

The sword was most likely not found on the Island & just another
excuse for a side trip to waste time.

First timer

Loved the mystery, but this is getting silly

Is it me, or did it look like none of the piping had been removed from 10x on last nights episode?

Good point, I noticed that as well, but it didn't dawn on me.

BTW, for the amount of first-time posters in this thread you do have to admit there is something about this mystery that pulls people in!

Oh , it's a very interesting topic. Too bad it's execution is so horrible.

I wish that one of these guys on the show would come to a forum like this and tell us all how phone it really is. Everyone knows the Sword is a fake and was planted there. The diver for the money pit will get stuck or have a technical issue and have to cancel the fake dive. I am sure that there are millions of people that actually watch the show and thing its real but common...

It is entertainment folks or the new age reality tv that has saturated tv! I watch it for a purely entertainment basis just like I do Ghost Hunters. Not many shows worthy any more and when I find myself at night winding down I seem to gravitate to Oak Island just for fun. Last nights episode and this theorist stating he believes the Ark of the Covenant being there was laughable! I believe the Ark exist but it will never be found because it is not there for one and is protected by just a secret few I am sure and passed down through he ages to be protected to a few secret more.

I do think that island was used as a "booty" stash for those marauding men of the sea for temporary storage for sure. But everyone has their theory about the island for sure.

Belief based on proof is logic. Belief not based on proof is fantasy. It's important to understand the difference.

Was Helge Ingstad fantasizing about a Viking presence in North America before he discovered the proof at L'Anse aux Meadows?

Fantasy or faith? That is the question.

Cheers, Loki

It is an amazing story if true. The Sinclair family sailing across the Atlantic with religious artifacts? Forget treasure, that would rewrite history.

I was aware of past treasure hunts on Oak Island, Roosevelt etc...but was unaware of the mass excavation done in the 1960's that basically tore a hole in the landscape. Its forced the show to 10X, which is nothing more then a hunch, with no proof or factual evidence to support a man made vault.

although 10x didn't lead to a treasure vault; think about the lead-up to the digging...

Blankenship dowsed the area and got a hit. He dug 10x down until he hit a larger natural cavern... full of water. His dowsing was successful; even though his goal wasn't to obtain fresh drinking water.

I now believe a chest of coins was found in the past; and this may have been the only treasure on Oak Island. Depending on which account you read, it was either a man called Graves, or a freed slave "Samuel Ball", that had obtained some lots on Oak Island. From what has been reported... became wealthy/well-to-do soon after. It is claimed that Graves or Ball were paying debts with old silver & gold coins.

This may have been a one time - booty chest - of treasure that was found and exhausted; but continues to fuel searching to this day.

That underwater stone triangle was a big letdown. The one that got the most camera time did not look much like the sonar scan (on sonar it looked much more defined), and the bigger rock was completely covered in plants so we could not see its shape. Boo.

As for the teased Roman sword, I have serious doubts. Fake decorative swords can be found on ebay that look almost exactly the same. Unless they can prove it's really ancient I would not go "all in" on that item.

That sword has already been debunked. The EXACT sword was found on Ebay, and it may be the very one bought and used for the show.

I keep forgetting to add to my posts these phrases-of-credibility:

"and what if....."

also

"ancient astronaut theorists believe..."

BTW, who are these ancient astronaut "theorists" anyways; 30 year old dudes still living in parents basement ?

:)
